Description

*******************************************
Night Stand's BIGGEST update has landed.
*******************************************

With Night Stand HD Pro, we've taken our bestselling hit for iPhone and the groundbreaking iPad version and rolled them into a single Universal app. With a stunning new NINTH clock theme, powerful new stopwatch, support for background alarms in iOS 4 and exclusive Retina Display optimization for iPhone 4 & iPod touch 4G, Night Stand version 1.5 is the best, most feature-complete time utility on the App Store.

Features We've Packed In:

Universal App: Night Stand is now Universal. Download once and use Night Stand on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. We know you love the app, now you'll love it on all your iOS devices.
iPhone 4 Support: We're as mesmerized by iPhone 4's Retina Display as you, so we went ahead and redrew every pixel of the app to look even better on the new iPhone (and iPod touch).
New Clock: Nixie — We slaved over this like you wouldn't believe. This specially handcrafted, pixel perfect, continuously, subtly animated clock will blow you away. [iPad only.]
New Feature: Stopwatch — With version v1.5 we've added this much-requested feature: a fully featured, gorgeously illustrated stopwatch unlike any other.
9 Stunning Clocks: Spoonjuice is passionate about pixels, and we've handcrafted 9 delicious clocks for your iPad, iPhone or iPhone 4. No one's clocks look this good, on any device.
Multiple Alarms with Background Capabilities: Night Stand is a true alarm app. Set as many alarms as you like. With iOS 4.0 on your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 (and iPod touch 4G), they'll work in the background so you no longer have to keep the app running all the time.
iPod Integration: Want to wake up to your own music? No problem. Simply select a track from your iPod music library as your alarm tone. Just a few taps and you're set.
Weather Information: Night Stand can now discreetly display your local weather information right on the clock screen. Just set the location and you're done.
World Clock for iPhone: You loved it on iPad, and demanded it on iPhone, and here it is. iPhone now features the most beautiful World Clock on the App Store, too.
Custom Color for LCD: We've taken the standard, 3-color LCD clock screen and given you the power to create your own colors. Got a thing for hot neon orange? Now's your chance.

Acclaim:
Engadget: "If you plan on doing a lot of traveling with your iPad, this is a must."

Customer Reviews

Definitely not satisfied. I want my money back!

You'd think a developer would focus on function before making something flashy and adding other features, but honestly I'm very disappointed in the way this app functions.

It's my primary alarm clock because my iPhone 3GS's speaker isn't loud enough with the regular clock app, so that's a positive for this app. I also like being able to pull up a fullscreen clock without ads, which is partly why I got this app in the first place.

Here's what I don't like:

- The clock takes a long time to load on launch.
- The alarm is impossible to shut off if I let the phone sleep. If I leave Night Stand running but sleep the iPhone, the only way I can shut the alarm off is to leave the app, double-click my home button and force-quit the app, then I can relaunch it and the alarm is off.
- I just discovered today with Daylight Savings Time, that even though the iPhone's clock fell back like it was supposed to, Night Stand's alarm went off an hour early.

Aside from fixing those things, I'd also like to see a countdown timer, since SpoonJuice already added a stopwatch.

I'll still hold out hope that these issues get resolved, but I'm not happy that they're there in the first place, especially for an app as mature as this one. I expected far better.

Beautiful, but...

This is a beautiful app with the Analog and Nixie themes being what really set it apart for me.

Unfortunately, each has a quirk that prevents me from giving the app 5 stars: Analog will not report the temperature and Nixie only allows a 24 hour clock. Those may be minor annoyances, but they are enough to cause me to use other clock apps most of the time. If fixed, this would be my clear favorite (and I've tried dozens).

As others have noted, this app hasn't been updated for a long time, and it should be. It could certainly use a retina upgrade for the new iPad, and I still would like to see the developers address the two issues mentioned above. While it has not been an problem for me (maybe because I rarely use the feature), whatever is causing the alarm to be unreliable for some users should be corrected. I'd also like to see more cities added to the world clock, or include an option for the user to name them manually.

Because the developers seem unresponsive, I've dropped my rating from four to three stars. It's not a bad app, but it is lagging now compared to others.

Deleting, buying new app that actually gets updated.

Final update: Total abandonware, do not buy. Developers could give a crap about their users long standing request. Total fail. F.O.

Updated AGAIN: I've emailed them, no response. Assumed this was abandonware until LO it appears as a free app today. Somebody over there is still kicking, and willing to give this away for free, but apparently not willing to fix the numerous bugs that have plagued this since LAST YEAR. Come on guys, it's not 4:20 all day, sober up and throw us a bone. I drop stars with every new review.

Updated: come on guys, it's been ages since an update. Is this abandonware now?

I've never had a problem setting or receiving alarms, but agree that the teeny tiny utterly microscopic bell you are supposed to touch to stop or snooze is ridiculous. Please add a popup overlay or something with HUGE buttons for this function. Would also be nice if alarms were the first thing that comes up when you enter setup, I'm not changing the look of the clock as frequently as I change alarms, so it's a bit annoying.

P.S. I do like one of the suggestions to create a clock where you can set or cycle through your own photos for the background.
