NightTime is the original digital LED night stand clock for the iPhone or iPod touch. This is the free companion to NightTime Plus, our more fully featured bedside clock which features a voice controlled alarm clock, landscape mode and the ability to choose any color for the display.
NightTime turns your iPhone or iPod touch into the perfect bedside clock. The large red digits are easy to read from a distance - perfect if you leave you phone on charge overnight.
NightTime overrides your auto-lock setting so your clock will stay on all night.
You can dim the display if you find the glow from the screen distracting and choose either a 12 or 24 hour clock.
NightTime has a very clean, simple interface - just tap on the clock area of the screen to access the settings.
- Large easy to read time display
- Adjustable brightness setting
- Toggle flashing seconds on/off
- 12hr/24hr mode
- Turns off auto-lock to prevent the iPhone/iPod Touch sleeping whilst it's running
- Clean interface with hidden status bar

Works quite well, with caveat
When I first saw this in the app store I was quite interested- my iPhone spends the night by my bedside charging and providing music to wake by on a Sony iPod clock-radio. Unfortunately, the clock itself's display even on it's lowest setting is WAY too bright, so I keep it covered up. This app seemed like the perfect solution.
In practice, it does work very well for it's purposes. The main problem that I ran into is that unless I go into the settings of the phone and turn the backlight britghtness all the way down, the black background of the clock image is just way too bright. With the backlight turned all the way down and the brightness control on the app turned all the way up, it's just about perfect. It would be really nice to be able to have the app itself adjust re backlight, but I would be unsurprised if that wasn't allowed by Apple.
I was reading throught some of the comments, saw a few that were annoyed at the flashing dots in the middle, and some asking why you can't stop them from blinking. You CAN stop them from blinking, tap on the screen which takes you to the settings, there is a setting there called "flashing seconds" with an on and off, tap "off". The dots will no longer blink, they will stay on solid just like the numbers.
Those asking for landscape are missing the boat. Most alarms look fine in landscape but too small in portrait. This app fills that niche. If one wants landscape get the deal calendar. Having landscape on this clock would look just as bad as portrait on other alarm apps.
Great job on this app.
