Almost 10 great years of tracking runs. Now this.
UPDATE: Still broken. I use the Apple Watch in conjunction with my iPhone 6, and both instances of NRC- watchOS and iOS- crash pretty consistently. I have discovered one trick, though. If you're interested in tracking a run via NRC on your Apple Watch indoors: 1) Disable your iPhone's Bluetooth. 2) Start NRC on your Apple Watch. 3) Run. 3a) When you finish running, or decide to take a water break, good luck pausing or ending the workout (because you can't). 4) Reconnect Bluetooth when finished. 5) Start NRC on the iPhone. 6) Start a run. 7) Stop the run after a few seconds. This should stop both the Apple Watch run and the iPhone run. If your iPhone isn't handy, you'll have to restart your Apple Watch to end the NRC run. Makes perfect sense, right?
To summarize, if you're training for a marathon (or any other distance) with a group, are on a regimented calendar, or occassionally need to run indoors or on treadmill and track/upload it for training purposes, find another app. This one is broken.
On the bright side, it could be worse. But that would require part of the tracking experience to involve being punched in the gut while jogging. I've logged a few thousand miles with Nike+; so I'd say I've gotten a feel for the whole system. (I'd also estimate I've missed out on logging 1,000 or so miles because of various bugs over the years, but that's just a petty gripe.)
Still annoyed but slightly better
Update: Thank you for bringing the notes back!! This really helped. Still not loving it but I have not deleted this app yet thanks to this fix. Keep listening to your users!
Biggest problems to-date: treadmill pace is off by as much as 1:20, and the voice feedback doesn't work when using app in the background. Please keep working at it!! Keeping original review below for posterity.
Original rating: My Nike+ app just updated and turned into Nike+ Run Club. And with that, I lost every picture, every notation on the workout I had completed, my shoe mileage - everything I had so carefully curated for three years to keep a detailed log of my development as a runner. All I have left is the date, pace, and map of my runs. (At first I thought I lost PRs but I found them at least!) And I could have even handled the change, had I been forewarned and given the opportunity to record that info somewhere. But now it is gone - Nike having evidently decided that wasn't important anymore. And now I have to decide if this app is even worth it. The one star I am giving is because a) you have to have at least one, and b) the coaching function appears far better than before. But since I wasn't using the coach, that hardly outweighs the loss of what I did use.
Version 5.03 - still disappointing
9/8/16: It's been a few weeks since the update to version 5 and I still am so disappointed every time I open the app. The app used to be so simple and displayed your mileage clearly and included lots of useful stats and graphs. Now the layout is confusing and the mileage is hidden and minimised in other tabs. It's still no longer possible to turn the phone sideways and see graphs of your running progress over time. Achievements and trophies are still gone. The voice feedback during runs is still slow and very jarring. Also, I noticed that it doesn't seem possible to scroll down on your runs and see your splits per mile anymore. I haven't switched over to another app yet because I was waiting to see if Nike would listen to feedback and bring back some of the features that were so great about previous versions. But with every tiny update, more disappointment.
Old review: I used to love the Nike running app but the latest update took away most of the best features. No more badges and trophies. The new voice feedback is terrible and extremely slow and drawn out. No longer able to see a graph of your mileage over time. No more notes on your run. No more total mileage on the front page. Sad!
