I love this app. It's great for a busy lifestyle, has a variety of workouts, and challenges me. I've been using it for three years and I'm still feeling it--plus I have more muscle and definition than I've ever had in my life!! 💪🏼 Overall, A+. My D1 collegiate athlete roommate did a workout with me and was impressed by it.
Any complaints are very minor-- I know I can sync it to Nike+Running so that my runs show up in NTC, which I LOVE, but I wish that I could put a race goal into Nike+Running and have my NTC workout be logged in the running app, as well; sometimes the words don't match the pictures (it's super rare--but happens--example: the side lunge with medicine ball rotation words are said, while the alternating side lunge picture shows up); and I don't think it's marketed at all toward men--I usually just don't recommend it to my guy friends. It would be great if the videos played during the workouts instead of needing to pause every time I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing and it would also been nice if there were more options on the workout selection screens to choose if I want weights or not (for when I'm out somewhere without them, if I don't have a resistance band, etc.). Overall, this is a fantastic app and I even dropped my gym membership because I love the convenience of being able to combine this with running/biking and never having to travel anywhere to work-out!
Better than the Kayla Itsines workout
I've been doing Nike Training for off and on a year and a half. I've never really been able to stick to going to the gym much- I hated waiting for machines or space, just the general environment- but this app is pretty fantastic at helping you keep on track and see fast improvement. Most importantly, what helps build muscle or transform your shape, whatever you're aiming for, is to "keep your body guessing" with high interval and quick changes to body positioning and activity style which is exactly what this app does. Going on two years and I still can do something different almost every day and if you look at the Kayla exercise or genuinely any fitness regime this app includes all the really effective moves while keeping things in rotation by making sure you are doing full body workout even on region-focused routines (you need to do this to actually build muscle or lose fat instead of just working on abs day in and night.) My friend does the Kayla workouts but honestly it's not as expansive as this and the videos and countdown on this app is such a huge help. The rule is 30 minutes a day of work out or a 3 mile run and if you stick to that to at least 3 to 4 days out of a week with NT you'll see results pretty fast.
Something in here for everyone
I've always been had an on-again-off-again relationship with the gym and been one of the crazy ones who feels like working out at 3am some days and then not at all the next week. This was mostly because I got easily bored of my workout routines and hated having to plan hours in advance for what I'm going to focus on in the gym the next time around. This app helped me overcome these two issues with becoming a regular workout junkie, firstly by taking away the need to plan and instead having a workout at the tap of a finger, and secondly, by providing an easy and accessible no equipment work out whenever I feel like it, even at stupid hours. Not to mention, since I usually am so irregular there are times when I needed to go back to a beginner level work out and Nike app has all types of work outs for people at different levels of fitness, which makes this app my fitness best friend. Lastly, the calorie count, the timer and the fuel features really help you stay motivated during and after the workouts, even if simply out of curiosity of how far you can go.
My only issue with it is that it doesn't have as many stretches an the end of cardio workouts as I'd like, but for people who don't stretch or like to stretch its not gonna be an issue at all.
