Look I understand my 2014 Leaf has a 3G chip and it's not going to be LTE fast. I can deal with a little slowness, but come on I spent $200 to upgrade to the 3G chip and the app hardly ever works. For the first week remote climate control and status updates worked great, albeit slow but hey at least when it's 110 degrees outside I can cool my car down. Now the App never works!
Second issue I have is the app has settings to either be notified by email, text, or App Notification for certain alerts. App Notifications don't even work at all? What's up with that? I can get texts which WOULDN'T be a problem EXCEPT I get a text from a different number every time?!? So pretty soon I've got 50 separate conversations open complete cluttering up my inbox. There's no reason App notifications should be there if it doesn't work.
I can deal with slow, but paying $200 for something that never works just blows!!
Now I've got an issue where nothing works and it just says my car's signal is too weak, when I go turn it on it connects to everything fine..
App is Slow but Functional
The app may be slow, but most of the complaints on here are about the car’s systems, not the app.
The TCU upgrade is $179 at the dealer and allows the app to function on the older Leaf models. This is a 3G cellular radio that it in he car. Occasionally, as with a lot of tech, it needs to be rebooted. I’ve have the app occasionally (maybe once a month) show range as 0 and miles as 0 after a refresh. This typically means the system needs a reset.
You can reset the system by pulling the 20A F34 fuse under the hood in the fuse box next to the battery. After about 30 seconds, you can replace the fuse and the app should start working again.
After all that, I will give the app 4/5 stars due to the Push Notifications not working. Though the email notifications do work quite well.
Slowest App I've ever used. Pieces don't work.
Is Nissan proud of their 1.5 star rating? I assume they are as they have done nothing about the complaints in 5 years. This is the slowest app I've ever used and incredibly unreliable. Today I had the hardware upgraded at Nissan because 2G is no longer supported by AT&T. Was hoping that might improve things. Nope. Slow as ever and locate, trip planning, etc... don't work at all. Sure am glad this is my kids car and I have a Tesla. ;) They know tech! Nissan Doesn't! (Seriously, I can walk to the car and turn on the heat faster than I can do it with the app)
