What's New in Version 1.3.1
Ability to toggle background notifications on and off and other bug fixes.
Great app, never had any problems.
I've used this app for 6 months or so and never had any of the problems others report. Account creation went smoothly, and I've barely touched it since. I receive alerts via email (on my phone) and I have text alerts turned off.
My only complaint is that many agencies seem to provide updates slowly. For big events, CNN is still much faster. But, Nixle gives me local info not reported anywhere else.
Can't unsubscribe from agencies.
Dec. 2013 edit: Signing up for the app requires that you enter a cell phone number (though I was able to delete my cell info later). Why can't I just get app push notifications only? Can't really sort or limit the kinds of notifications you want to receive, such as road closures or Crimestoppers alerts. You have to pull down on the inbox screen to update notifications, and I continue to get messages from "unsubscribed" agencies. The app has not been updated since December 2012.
New version fixes battery problems!
Finally you can turn on background GPS without draining your battery! Now I can alerts automatically wherever I travel. Thanks!
