What's New in Version 3.1.1
Thanks for using Health Mate! This version adds iPhone X support but also comes with some crash fixes.
App can’t maintain pairings with WiFi, iPhone 5, 6, 7
For at least three years, this App has routinely lost the pairing and connectivity with my Withings scale after each and every Apple and/or Nokia/Withings software update. The problem continued with both iOS 10 and 11, but I believe dates back further. That translates into constant device pairing and re-pairing problems, duplicate user ID’s, lost data and a scale in which the data-tracking does not function reliably, nor as advertised. The issues have not changed under Nokia’s ownership. The scale function still works, but for us, data tracking is all but useless.
Withings has no telephone tech support and the connectivity problems just churn on and on, endlessly. Online tech support is of no help, because the underlying connectivity issue — whatever it is — has never been resolved and the slow back-and-forth of email support is not efficient or helpful. Why should customers keep re-pairing their scales (and I assume other products) after every software update? Or contact Nokia/Withings over and over for the very same issue? It’s a circular, repeating failure that requires more effort, and creates more frustrations, than it’s worth.
For these reasons, when I needed a blood pressure monitor, I chose OmronWellness, which is reliable and has no such connectivity problems. None. And when I needed a watch to monitor my heart rate, I ignored Nokia/Withings products as well.
If I could rate 0 stars I would
Edit: just realized i have an old phone with an older version of the original Withings app. Going to get the ipa off it and transfer it to my new phone. If anyone’s reading this and would like a copy (you just have to turn off automatic updates and manually click update on your other apps) I would be happy to provide the package with install instructions. kingifrit at gmail.
Honestly stop thinking the timeline is the most important view in your app. Before Nokia screwed up Withings you could set the dashboard to be the opening view; why Nokia removed this feature is baffling. I know what I just did, i don’t need to see a timeline of things I just did when I open the app; I would rather see the dashboard which shows where you are at, not what you just did. Also the old app had completeness circles that helped you to know what areas you need to work on. TBH I have a phone with a version of the app before the takeover and I have set the phone to never automatically update apps so I can continue to use the best version of the app.
Nokia, thanks for ruining a great app.
Now useless for Withings products
Like others I’ve noticed that support for Withings products has been cut out. I have a Pulse Ox that despite doing a factory reset as Nokia told me to do and other assorted things it still will not automatically sync as it once did. After seeing someone mention their BPM having issues with the app I tried mine and can confirm mine does too. As I told Frank from Nokia after trying all his ideas for fixing my Pulse Ox sync issue, once I wear out the button on my unit from having to manually sync every day I’m done. I like the Pulse Ox because I can keep it in my pocket since I’m hard on watches and also can’t see them due to being visually impaired.
