Editors' Choice: "Bottom Line: Affordably-priced and feature-rich, Note Taker HD is the iPad app for professionals in need of note-taking software." -PCMag.com, June 2011
Note Taker HD is a powerful app for writing and organizing handwritten notes, diagrams, etc., on the iPad. It can also be used to annotate PDF files. It can shrink your writing so you can easily fit a lot of text on a page. You can read the reduced-size "ink" as if you had written those letters with a very fine pen. It gives you solid functionality and control to produce the pages you need.
Documents are flexibly organized by tags, date/time last modified, favorites, and more, with a scrolling list of thumbnail images of part of each page to help you find them later. You can email one or more pages as a single PDF file, "Open In" other apps, or, if your iPad supports it, print.
Note Taker HD lets you create pages by writing on the screen with your finger or an iPad-compatible stylus. You can either write directly on the page for large drawings, or have the "ink" you write shrunk down. You can write in large letters on the screen rather than trying to make tiny motions like a pencil. You just keep writing and Note Taker HD automatically adds new writing next to the old. To quickly correct mistakes, it has multi-level undo and redo buttons as well as an eraser -- just drag your finger over the page to erase the "ink" under it.
You can zoom in and out on a page using the pinch gesture while viewing or editing. The Zoomed Editing window lets you see both a zoomed-out overview and a zoomed-in close-up writing area at the same time.
You can use "Open In" in other apps or iTunes to send PDF files to Note Taker HD for annotation.

What's New in Version 6.9
6.9 is a major internal upgrade of the code to follow recent iOS coding conventions. The app now requires iOS 8.1 or later, and the visual anomalies that may have shown up when running under iOS 7 and/or 8 should have been resolved. While there are are no real feature additions, several bugs were fixed.
10 star program!
This is the main app I use on my iPad.
I have over 500 documents. I use it for journaling and writing down creative ideas. I been writing in paper notebooks for years, and this has completely taken their place. You can organize your documents so neatly, and since the creator of this app is the inventor of the spreadsheet (Dan Bricklin) it has all the types of functionality that makes spreadsheets so powerful. With the tap of a button, you can duplicate a page, change the colors of your ink and bolden them, backup your data (as separate compressed file, to ensure you have it safe in case of iPad crash, cut/copy/paste, and make legible print due to zoom feature. Don't be discoraged if the interface seems complicating, it's easy to learn, but not a small featured app like the others. It can do way more than what I use it for, see feature list, but if you are an avid paper journal maker, and just like paper over typing, this app is for you. You have just gone digital!
This is why they made the ipad
I got this app within a week or so of buying my iPad back in 2012. It has solved so many of my needs in daily work and has allowed me to walk around with the equivalent of a 3 foot high stack of spiral bound notebooks of important work notes across 2.5 years, for access to current and prior projects, instantly.
The foresight and functionality embedded in this app is astonishing. What's more, people on a regular basis are highly impressed at the app when they see me using it. And others are highly impressed when they receive the PDFs I send them from within the app, containing markups or questions that can only be communicated by drawings.
11 out of 10 stars for this app, and I hope Apple knows that apps like these are why their iPads have such value.
Does what others promise ...
Once I started using this application, it just seemed so easy, natural, and well designed that I have stopped using others. This is The Gold Standard of note-taking Apps.
I cannot recommend this application high enough. It never ceases to amaze me with its features and it just keeps getting better all the time. Although it has had few updates/upgrades, that is because it really delivers just about everything anyone could want in a drawing, text, or handwriting package.
Fabulous! Excellent!! Absolutely wonderful and easy!!!
