NTPQuery will query the specified NTP server and display the contents of the NTP packet received back from the server. This app can be used by network administrators to verify the proper operation of their NTP servers.
NOTE: This application will not set your system time.
Nice little utility, but for very limited audience
I am happy to have this, even if I will be using it infrequently.
The small number of people for whom this is useful will probably already know how to use the ntpq command-line tool for what they need or will be able to use packet capture and analysis tools. Yet, if you do want to quickly and easily see what you get from a simple ntp query without having to dig through the isc-ntp documentation or launch a general packet analysis tool, NTPQ does the job.
I wish I had this back in 2008 to see easily see which servers got the leap-seconds right.
