Description

NYC Mate is the ultimate NYC companion. It has every neighborhood map, bus maps for all boroughs and of course... THE OFFICIAL SUBWAY MAP WITH TRAIN TIMES from GTFS.

Maps included in NYC Mate are:

• NYC Subway
• Manhattan Bus Map
• Queens Bus Map
• Brooklyn Bus Map
• Bronx Bus Map
• Staten Island Bus Map
• Metro North Railroad Map
• Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Map
• All neighborhood maps (note: you must download these on an as-needed basis, but once you have it, you'll always have it)

You will also find:

• subway service alerts
• routing (bookmarking and most recently searched)
• customizable tab bar
• street map views for the subway

You can use the application to find different routes. You can also bookmark those routes so that you can look them up later with a touch of a button. Subway timetables are displayed under each stop. You can also view all the stops in a certain line by scrolling through them. The Metro North Railroad also includes daily timetables. And time tables will be coming to the LIRR, so please be patient!

IT'S ALWAYS FREE....

The goal is to make public information public again.

The core application comes with the NYC Subway Map (the new one) and it's 100% hot-touchable. All the other content is downloaded on an as-needed basis.

If you are having any issues with the app, i.e. crashes etc., please email support@nycmate.com and provide as much info as possible!

"The easiest way to get from point a to point b in NYC"....seeded user.

NYCMate includes the crowd sourcing system NextTrain, which provides realtime train arrival information on all NYC subway lines. NextTrain is an innovative technical product and proud to be a NYC homegrown technical solution. NextTrain uses anonymous and passive reporting, so their is nothing for you the user to do. Just enjoy finally knowing when the train will arrive. But only if enough people enable NextTrain, so visit the information button in the app and enable today.

While we are not monitoring GPS location apple does require the following disclaimer for any potential use of background location data:
"Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life."

We use BaseStationID not GPS to determine reporting, so battery life is not effected and all information remains anonymous.

Please enjoy and checkout out other products and services from Densebrain, Inc

Not So Allert

First, I want to say that this is a great app. It has an unusual structure and interface but it works well for me -- with one major exception. And I have had none of the problems with downloads and updates that others report.

What I can no longer rely on the app for are subway service updates. This is too bad because, as anyone trying to get around the boroughs on the weekends or late at night knows, train service gets spotty and random. If you want to use the system and not make yourself miserable you have to know which lines are running and where they are stopping.

For some reason the application's subway service updates are regularly wrong. I must have shown up at E or F stations 5 times only to find paper postings indicating that the train was actually not running on the line. And this would be after I checked the App to make sure I would have a connection.

This feature has to be fixed or eliminated.

Directions not the best

First, I would like to say that I am not having any problems that others are reporting with downloading et cetera.

The problem I'm having is with the directions feature. While the directions that are given are accurate they are not the best. I know personally that there are better directions from station to stationi on the subway map. Many times the directions that are given are on the local train which is the slowest train to the destination. The algorithm seems to be choosing the most direct route and not the fastest

I would also like to be able to choose amongst various routes. NYC Mate only gives you one option for direction results

Overall I give this app high marks. But I cannot give it four stars because of the problem with directions.

Used To Be the Best MTA/NJT App

This used to be my go-to app, I'd even recommend it to friends whenever they were coming in to visit. However within the last year, the app started picking up bugs on all map types, such as not showing time tables, not planning routes, pixelated icons, etc. And the constant updates don't seem to change anything.

Hope these guys fix it soon. They seem to be too busy penetrating other major markets with similar apps. For now, I'll be using the Embark NYC Subway app, et al. It's not perfect either (separate apps for MN/LIRR/NJT), but at least it has my time tables and route planning. If anyone else has suggestions on other better apps to use, let us know!
