Once one of my favorite apps, developers got greedy
This was once one of my most used--and loved--apps. I used it every day. The day the developers decided to increase the annual subscription by well over 100%, they lost a loyal customer in me. I'm hardly an expert in economics, but I'm quite certain (note the sarcasm, please) that even in the worst economic periods inflation rates are much, much lower. I really hoped that the developers would see the light on this issue; sadly, they haven't. In fact, I've never seen any rationale for the exorbitant increase. The lack of an explanation indicates to me that the developers really don't care about their client's concerns. Sad. Also, just wanted to add to the developers--keep giving minor updates, and I promise to resubmit my review every time. It drives me nuts when app developers issue updates as a way to get rid of bad reviews.
To those defending the developers (the one that sticks out for me is "it's 11 cents a day. . ."), I can only assume that money is no object to these reviewers. If I had downloaded this app, and the current rates were in place, I probably would have paid it. But I won't pay more than double what they charged before "improving" the app. If you don't mind living in a world where doubling prices doesn't bother you, knock yourself out.
Bluetooth logitech keyboard issues after last update
I used to love this App. The redesign was very rocky and broke a lot of features I loved. But regular updates improved the App significantly. But it still needs work. For example - do you have to prominently display a negative message on the screen when folks complete a puzzle? Instead of feeling rewarded with the little bit of happy music which is great, you are also greeted immediately by a message that says "puzzles not completed on the day of release are not available for streaks." Can you remove that? We get it, we didn't do it in a narrow window when we were probably working to earn a living, we don't get a gold star and a continued streak. The effect takes away from the small amount of gratification we get from solving the puzzle successfully. What percentage of your users really have time to finish puzzles every day when published in a modern era? Please consider widening your test and focus groups and continue improving this app. Thank you.
A very good NYT crossword interface. The launch a year ago was very rocky, but it is now bugfree, intuitive to control, and looks nice. It's worth my money to subscribe and access 22 years of NYT-level crosswording, I think, and I probably have logged more hours on this app this past year than any other iOS app except (perhaps) Chrome.
My feature request would be to make navigating and exploring the archives easier, maybe by letting users input dates instead of fiddling with spinners. Also, implement an "I'm Feeling Lucky" button that instantly takes you to a random puzzle you haven't done yet. I have a feeling neither will happen because of fears that it'd discourage puzzle-pack IAP, but a man can hope, anyway.
