From Cyan, the studio that brought you Myst, comes Obduction, an all-new adventure that brings the spirit of Cyan’s earlier games into the new millennium. Obduction resurrects the feeling of finding yourself in the middle of new worlds to explore, discover, solve, and become part of.
As you walk beside the lake on a cloudy night, a curious, organic artifact falls from the sky and inexplicably, without asking permission, transports you across the universe.
The worlds of Obduction reveal their secrets only as you explore, coax, and consider them. And as you bask in the otherworldly beauty and explore through the enigmatic landscapes, remember that the choices you make will have substantial consequences.
Obduction. Make it home.

Good but a little buggy
This is an outstanding puzzle game. Everything you would expect from the people who made the genre famous. It’s well-developed, rich, and has an engaging storyline. Turn out the lights, put it on a large screen, and you are alone in a mysterious world - allowed to roam free and figure out what happened. Plan to lose hours of your life pushing buttons, searching for codes, turning handles, and even firing lasers… Yes, the game has lasers.
It is a resource hog. I’m running a brand new Macbook Pro with maxed-out specs and the game is still laggy and prone to crashes (especially when coming out of the tree). I recognize that software like this requires intense computing power - and I’m thankful that I can experience it - but be warned, you need tons of power to make this game work. It would easily be five stars if things moved a little smoother and didn’t crash. Load time wouldn’t bother me if gameplay was more reliable and less prone to crashes.
Stunningly lame with last decade graphics
I give it 2 stars because I don’t “hate it”, I just think it’s simply lame. The graphics and navigation remind me of Myst 20 years ago. The voice over acting is embarrassingly bad; the writing sophomoric and the story line never takes shape. You just wander around, stumble across “puzzles” and the like, turn things on, go somehwere else, etc. etc. I finally quit trying to figure it out, found a walkthrough, and now I’m moving through it only because I want to see if it’s actually going anywhere that I haven’t yet figured out. Even this has become frustrating because it takes friggin forever for this game to load and you can’t just put it in the background while tracking a walkthrough. Maybe the game is smarter than I, but I doubt it. I’ve $39 in it so I’ll soldier on hoping something will click and subsequently expose a wonderful gaming experience...but I’m not expecting it. You shouldn’t either.
I love this game. Read the system requirements carefully, but if you have the hardware, proceed and enjoy! I have been a fan of Cyan's work since Myst and Riven and always thought of those as a moment in time never to be repeated in gaming, but here we are in 2017. While we’re not exactly experiencing a new genre, they are pushing boundaries. What was accomplished here should be rewarded and applauded. Great job! I hope to see more in the future. As for performance, yes it needs some horsepower, but no one ever said it didn’t. We thankfully live in a time when optimizations can come out after release quite easily. Having waited many months now for the Mac release i am quite pleased. Thank you Cyan!
