Oblique Strategies are intended to inspire your mind and excite creative strategies in an artist, engineer, or anyone who is grappling with a problem they cannot solve. This is an ideal solution for writer's block and breaking dilemma situations. They encourage lateral thinking and question the traditional approach.
The Oblique Strategies is created by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt in 1975 and is intended to help in solving problems, boost creativity, and inspire new ways of thinking.

What's New in Version 3.1
Oblique v3.1 has modified some UI elements including the ability to invert the background colors between black and white, hide everything on the screen except for the strategies, and a landscape mode. We also added a new set of strategies for all you Shakespeare fans and addressed the bug that kept requesting for a review.
Thank you for all your feedback and support! We look forward to making this app even better for you. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for new updates or questions relating to the app at @squarevibe. Happy problem solving everyone!
Let me preface this by saying I have a bit of a predisposition against digital reformatting of analog media - you just can't beat having a tangible object to play around with. That being said, in this situation (with the price of a physical deck of Oblique cards being what it is), I do enjoy the app quite a bit. I haven't had any significant creative breakthroughs as a result of using it, but it does offer a promising platform for facilitated introspection. I'll continue to use it to cross-reference design decisions and while I don't expect it to present to me any silver bullets, I do believe it's a worthwhile exercise to indulge the philosophies contained within these "cards".
I've been interested in the Oblique Strategies for a while now, but since decks are upwards of 40 dollars, I didn't really have the means to get one. This app is a pretty good substitute. My only complaints are that the cards tend to repeat themselves quite frequently. I tend to see the same five or six over and over again. Maybe the app should include a mode that would allow one to see the cards in a deck without having to swipe through them all. I'm still pretty excited about the app though.
Notes and repeated card
I think this is great! My painting instructor from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago recommended the deck or the app. The app is a good way to have them all in one place whether you're in the studio, class, or on public transportation. The one thing I'm not a fan of is that the the cards repeat and I'm not sure why. Also I can't look back on the notes I took in the note section of the app. If anyone knows the answers to this please let me know! I tried contacting the app developers but they only have twitter, and I don't.
