A little off
Not a bad game, just not a particularly good one. Storyline was decent, involving art theft, forgery and rescues, but the two main characters and the reporter you play are the biggest dullards you ever met-constantly getting kidnapped, imprisoned and generally pushed around. Has teleporting map & hint button, varied games, tasks & HOS, decent length, collectibles and souvenir room. But the artwork was not up to par and the touch fields were too small and not responsive enough. Using items from inventory very glitchy-took several attempts to move anything and several taps in HOS to hit item. Have never played an "Off the Record" before, probably won't look for another one. Eipix, you've done worlds better than this.
It's a fun one
I love Eipix games. And I appreciate how they put extra content (HOG and mini-games) on the menu once you complete the game. And I also find Eipix games to be very creative. Though this one has a lot of disconnect between items and interactive places in the game. For instance...needing to use a push pin to undo/take a plastic pipe. Or using a wrench to slam up against a key rack for a stuck puzzle piece. So basically...you have to try every item in your inventory regardless if it makes sense or not. Eipix....we like a challenge, but how to use some of the action items just doesnt make sense. Hopefully the next game addresses that.
Art of deception- artfully done!
Was originally going to give it 4 stars but it grew on me as I was playing. You are a reporter trying to interview an artist who is restoring a famous painting. It quickly becomes apparent that the artist is shady, and her "boyfriend" is either a stalker or up to no good. Or both. Artwork is good, transporting map (receive a few scenes in), morphing objects in HO which are various HO types, collecting letters and tubes of paint. Extra star for original adult non fairytale theme. I like fairytales, but like ice cream, a steady diet of them isn't appealing. Overall verdict: buy!
