Ohayo means "Good morning" in Japanese and this is exactly what we hope this app can provide. Like most families, we have experienced how stressful it can be to make it to kindergarten or school on time. That's why we created this app.
In Ohayo you’ll set up a morning routine that fits your family. Ohayo wakes you up in the morning, makes sure you don't use too much time on each activity, and tells you when it’s time to leave. By involving your kids in setting up the morning routine, they will be more motivated to follow it. As an added incentive, we have added playtime as a part of the morning routine. Motivation and predictability reduces conflicts and makes your kids happier.
Our goal with Ohayo is not to turn your morning routine into a race, but to free up time you can enjoy. Eating breakfast together and playing for a while before you have to leave. We hope you too will get a better morning with Ohayo.

Gets my kindergartener out the door on time!
I was looking for an app, something better than our paper list of tasks, to help with my child’s morning routine. This is near perfect. Simple UI is easy for us to set up together and for her to follow each morning. She finds the the interface engaging without being distracting. We’ve gone from nagging and battles to get to school on time to having extra time for play. There’s even a step for sunscreen (my UV-phobic spouse approves)!
* (minus one star) No alarm to wake up if the iPad is asleep, or at least not that I’ve gotten to work. I work around by manually unlocking the iPad a minute before my child’s wake-up time. She hears the initial chimes and hops to it.
* No iPhone version. I see how the single timeline would be hard to adapt to the smaller screen, but she also likes carrying it with her from bed to bathroom to breakfast table to entry as she does her tasks, which would be easier with the smaller device.
All in all, I love it. This has been working for us for two weeks, and we even use the reminder functions for returning library books, bringing sports gear, etc.
Hey Janet! Thank you so much for your review! You have no idea how much it means for us to hear back from out users. And, we're really happy to hear that Ohayo has made your mornings less stressful.
Ohayo can definitely work as an alarm, even when locked/sleeping. Just make sure notifications is enabled in iPad Settings > Notifications > Ohayo. Also, make sure that the ringer volume is not set too low: Settings > Sounds > Ringer and alerts. And make sure "Do not disturb" is off.
We're considering making an iPhone version. But like you point out it requires a complete rethinking of the UI.
