What's New in Version 8.2
• General fixes and improvements
OkCupid needs to reinvent itself. It hasn't changed much in the past few years and with the onset of swiping apps I'm struggling to find a use for this one. There has been a swiping function added but I don't think anybody uses it. I get infinitely more matches on Tinder or Bumble.
One big issue I have with this site in general is that you're sending unsolicited messages to people, the overwhelming majority of whom will look at your page and ignore you. It happens to me and I do it to others. What ends up happening is you start realizing it's a numbers game. Taking time to craft a special message to someone who said things on their page which resonated with you gets old after you do it a few times and don't elicit a response. So what do you do? You start dumbing down the message to "hey" or "hi" to anyone. Women generally don't like that and many say they won't respond to such messages. Something's gotta give but you're caught in a cycle. At least on the leading swiping competitor's apps you can't even talk unless both of you presumably find each other attractive or at least interesting.
Someone else in the reviews mentioned that OkCupid is relegating you to the bottom of the pile if you're not paying. Possibly. In the past I've actually had better success on OkCupid than any other site. Don't know what happened. It's only slightly better than Hinge now
I was looking for a decent dating website I can use without paying, and that doesn't conjure up too many scary people. Met a guy in a day, we've not met in person yet but I haven't felt the need to talk to the others as of now. Good and thorough matching questionnaire has let me choose whether or not I want to see what we have in common. Chose this person based on high percentage on the quiz and so far it's been very accurate. Will recommend to friends!
Lots of scammers, slow, Old interface much better
This new interface as of six months ago with horrible the other one was so much better laid out.
Be careful of scammers from other states and countries. They always start off in a state not close to you with some overly nice Words and eventually they'll ask you for money for a plane ticket to come see you. They usually have only one picture posted because it's one grabbed off the Internet.
Just ask for their phone number and they disappear right away because it a scam
