HOW IT WORKS

Rich profiles highlight your personality and interests. Questions inform our algorithm so we get to know your deal breakers, and what you care about most. OkCupid Discovery helps you search for people who share your passions. Our one-of-a-kind messaging system lets you focus only on the connections you’re interested in, and none of the ones you’re not.

User friendliness

Hi!
I had an issue with having two profiles. In the same day I paid twice for an old profile from 10 years ago as well as my new one; both under the same email address. I received a response after writing to OKC a few times since February. I had misspoken and said that I have 2 accounts rather than two profiles. The response I got was “you do not have 2 accounts as it is not possible” and “your profile will be cancelled July 23rd”. While this was clarifying it did not clear up the fact that I had paid for 2 6 month profiles by mistake. It was my mistake so I don’t expect to be reimbursed though I would appreciate it if I could be. I updated the old profile that I have seen once in a while, so that things are consistent, which I see somehow, once in a while though I don’t know how to access it. One person I was corresponding with thought I had 2 profiles on purpose. I have addressed the issue by including an explanation in my self summary in both profiles. Any light shed on this would be appreciated. I don’t know if OKC indicates to its audience a member’s last time on OKC but I consider this to be something that I’d like to be private. I have friends and people I am interested in and don’t want feelings to be hurt because of my use of your site. I could use some help understanding how to control what other members see in my profile, namely when I am on the site.
Thanks!
Cat

Blocked people

The people you swipe left on get recycled back into doubletake if they change something on their profile. Which is only useful (from a girls perspective) if they went from one shirtless pic of just their torso, to any amount of pics with any face shots that don’t include sunglasses or extreme distance from the camera. OR if they finished writing their profile. And since you can’t filter profiles for free, I will usually block the doubletakes that I don’t want to filter back because either: I know the person, it’s someone I never want to date like a married couple or a woman (somehow they slip in??). However, I recently come across a open relationship profile that I had previously blocked (the day before). I know this because not only did I remember the profile and name, when I went to block them, my only option was to UNblock them. And I saw at the bottom that red banner that normally pops up after you blocked someone that says “you have blocked Mark”. Isn’t the point of blocking so I don’t see the person again??? I mean technically swiping left is supposed to do that. on tinder you can swipe down or up (one of those) to decide later. Seems like that should be an option here. Every time I see a repeat profile on the doubletake (even tho I’ve swiped left 4 times...) I feel like the app is saying “are you sure??? He looks really lonely, why don’t you just talk to him it looks like he needs it” like really?
