Omar Sharif endorsed Bridge is simply the best Bridge product for your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
Omar Sharif Bridge could be the perfect game. Its ease of play marks it out as a firm favourite for casual gamers, whilst the huge depth of strategy and vast intricacies involved allow it to be a game that can be studied by the most serious card student.
Bridge is played by four players who form two partnerships. Players within a partnership face each other across the bridge table. Traditionally, the players are referred to by the points of the compass - North, East, South and West. The two partnerships are North/South and East/West. Games are played to the best of three. The winner is said to have won the "rubber". A game ends when one partnership scores 100 or more points below the line.
Featuring ACOL and Standard American bidding systems, Omar Sharif Bridge will challenge the most proficient player yet still allow the beginner to develop their game. Fantastic graphics and a strong and respected bridge engine allows players to become involved, stimulated and challenged with every deal.
Omar Sharif Bridge features:
• Endorsed by Omar Sharif.
• Supports 5 card majors, strong 2 clubs, weak 1NT, Jacoby Transfers, weak 2-Bids and 2NT 11-12 points bidding conventions.
• Uses the Rubber scoring system.
• Extensive score card information.
• Ability to locate deals matching many bidding criteria.
• Auto bidding.
• Auto card play.
• Full undo and redo of bids and cards played.
• Extensive display and card play options.
What's New in Version 3.2
Added support for the new 3rd generation iPad
This app is the best program for Bridge I have found. Graphics are suburb, speed of the game is great, controls give anything you want - including undo, suggested bids and plays is a wonderful instructor, scoring is always correct and selected hands give you a win when you have just been beaten by the ever-smart computer. I had Omar Sharif Bridge for my Palm phone and this is every bit as good and better. The functions are easy and intuitive and the play quite fun. It is far, far better than programs costing four times as much, and of course better than the freebie.
I'm not sure what the 2 star reviewers are talking about. If you press the ? you get a Hint on what card to play. Also, you can Undo at any point, and bidding is one player at a time, just like playing with humans. (Maybe they selected auto play?) I think they need a lesson. My only complaint is that when a game is finished and you are reviewing, and possibly want to Replay game, the app closes and no way to get back to previous game.
Bridge Out Of Control
Once a hand is dealt there appears no way to follow through the bidding process, one player at a time. The bidding just reaches a conclusion. This resulted in one hand in which declarer, South (human) reached a contract of 5 Clubs with only 10 points & without South once entering a bid of any kind. Omar Sharif has a good reputation in Bridge circles but developer doesn't seem to be doing that reputation any favors with an app that has no control. As fAr as I'm concerned Pass is the only reasonable response to buying this app, whatever the price.
