Customer Reviews

One of my new favorite apps!

I have really enjoyed using this app to listen to the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and other books through my library! At this point I have listened to days worth of content, and I find the app excellent. I usually listen to it on my iPad, but have also had no trouble switching mid-book to my iPhone (and back) if I wanted to listen to it while taking a walk for example. I've also had no trouble using other apps, such as a puzzle app, while listening to the books. Downloading happens in a flash and the next book is usually always available when I want to listen to it. I have a serious illness and am currently going through treatment, so this app was a real lifesaver. Thanks Record Books LLC!

Getting better

The app is definitely getting better; however, if I use the 30 second rewind button more than once in a row, the app crashes- every single time! It is incredibly frustrating. My local library uses this app so Im stuck with it. I also had the same problem with the name of my library not being found when typing in first three letters. I ended up discovering, after a very long and frustrating time, that under my account info in the app, my library was listed as "SoValue" not my actual library name. Sure enough once I put in "SoValue" I was able to log in. Overdrive is a much better and reliable app. If you can choose, go Overdrive. If I had to use this app with audiobooks I actually paid for, I would be very upset.

A little behind the times....

Years ago, this would have been a great app, but the natural competitors to this app are much further along. Specifically, Overdrive (a direct competitor in the library digital books space) and Audible (the commercial counterpart), not to mention the built-in Apple software, have been ahead of this app in basic functionality and stability for a few generations.
I can forgive the less refined interface, but the feature which allows you to playback at variable speeds up to twice normal and the tendency to crash are two significant shortcomings in what is a relatively mature app space.
There are also a number of usability issues which make basic tasks unclear.
Maybe the next version will bring this app up to date...
As it stands, based on lacking basic features, unrefined UI and instability, if my library could only select Overdrive or Oneclick, the choice would be simple.
It's not worth having an app that generates customer complaints and makes it harder for customers to use, placing demands on staff time.
