Remote Key Fob:
Remote Start/Stop: Send a remote command to start and stop your vehicle from anywhere you have a vehicle connection (requires factory installed and enabled remote starter system)
Lock/Unlock: Lock and unlock your doors from anywhere you have a vehicle connection (requires automatic locks)
Warning Lights: Send a remote command to activate your horn and flash your lights
Fuel Level/Range: View your fuel level in percentage, approximate number of gallons remaining and miles until empty. For Electric Vehicle owners, monitor EV range, charging status and even find charging stations along your route
Oil Life: View your remaining oil life as a percentage
Tire Pressure: Get recommended and current tire pressures (if equipped)
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF): If you have a diesel vehicle, check to see if your DEF level is optimal, low, or, if your vehicle is currently in a speed-limited state, critically low
GM Smart Driver: Get information and tips to help you improve your driving

My husband and I have each had this app ever since we bought our Chevy truck in Feb 2016, and it's not reliable. When it works, it's pretty cool. But!!! we've each had to uninstall and reinstall twice and I'm just now doing it for the third time. When we first got the app, we had Samsung phones and now we both have iPhones, so it seems to be more about the app than the phones. Here are the problems we've had with the app: it's super slow locking/unlocking the doors; it has failed to work at all several times, which led to uninstalling and reinstalling; and most recently, when I tried to start the engine, the icon's circle -the one that indicates "in process"- went around and around and around etc FOR 10 DAYS! I tried to exit and stop it, I turned my phone off several times, I tried to uninstall the app but it just kept asking me if I wanted to share it, and then I finally called Onstar and the guy basically indicated that the problem was either me or my phone. Maybe he actually found the problem because the circle has finally quit going around and I uninstalled. Not sure whether I'm going to try again.
Update killed my vehicle connection!!
Ever since I installed the update yesterday, my vehicle is no longer communicating with my phone application. I went in to initially get myself some navigation directions and it would not send them to my car and I was receiving an error message that said unable to communicate with vehicle. I tried again and got the same results. I then went into refresh my vehicle diagnostics and tire pressure and fuel level on the application and I received the same error message stating unable to locate vehicle.
Considering I am paying a monthly fee for my OnStar Sarah, I am definitely not happy with the fact I am no longer able to use either the on star or the Chevrolet app which will show me essentially everything on star does. Please look into this and get back to me. It would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for everything you’re able to do to fix my issue Also, before you start having me diagnose the problem, I wanted you to know I tried turning off my phone and turning it back on. I also tried deleting the applications and reinstalling them. I made sure all the Vin numbers and any other number needed was there as well and accurate.
On star is worth every single cent!!!
I was just thinking of canceling the service just because I didn’t feel it was an expense that I needed, but I am so grateful that I have Onstar today. I took my car to firestone (bad review coming for them right after this) firestone supposedly did my oil change and just one day later I was hearing a knocking sound, had my dad check the car check the oil and there was absolutely no oil in the car ... I called onstar because my dad said not to drive it like that and surprisingly they tow my car to the dealership absolutely free of charge ... I was so grateful and overjoyed to know this horrible situation turned into a great outcome for me just because i pay $15 a month for the BASIC package ... needless to say I’m thinking of upgrading they have proven their worth to me ten times over today and I can’t thank onstar enough. ONSTAR YOUR SERVICE IS TRULY APPRECIATED FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART I THANK EVERYONE AT ONSTAR ... and I’ve never spoke to any rude agents there always extremely helpful
