A very happy iPhone five user
I have been a TuneIn radio user for the last two years. Although the program is really good unfortunately they seem to be blocking more and more channels from being available so I went looking for a new program. On the suggestion of a friend I gave ooTunes a try and I am extremely glad I did. I now once again have full access to all of my stations without having to use multiple applications. On top of the already excellent database I emailed the author with a request to add a few stations and within three hours received an email telling me that I could now access them from the application. That is really good customer service and a good sign that this application will be around for a long time to come. Lastly I am an iPhone five user on AT&T and have use the application on Wi-Fi HSPA and LTE with no issues. I have to assume that the previous reviewers that mentioned issues with the iPhone five must've been in areas with low reception. I do look forward to a future update that allows full-screen access on the iPhone five however that in no way is interfering with the programs usability. This purchase was well worth the money.
Was Great, But Losing Functionality Owing to Lack of Updates
This has long been one of my favorite apps, and I use it literally every day. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated since 2011, and as time goes by more and more problems are cropping up. For example, on newer devices it is no longer possible to pause or adjust the volume from the lock screen, to edit station names, or to group stations into folders. (The commands for the latter functions are still available, but when I try to use them they don't work.) In a way it seems churlish to complain; I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth over the years, and at least the basic functions remain intact. Still, it’s frustrating that what was once an extremely useful and dependable app has become much less so for lack of basic maintenance. (I’m also surprised that the developer is allowed to continue charging $5.00 for an app that no longer includes all the advertised features. I would think Apple would require them to either fix it or update the description to make it more accurate.)
Good, but recording is hard
It's a good app for listening to music, but there is a recording feature. That's where most of my complaints come. It's confusing and hard to use. I would like to be able to make recordings over 12 hours long. I would like to be able to see more that one at once. Right now, the system isn't very clear. I think it should look something more like, say, a planner, where it shows all the recordings happening at once. I would also like it to have a repeat function so I don't have to reset t every day. Essentially, I would like my iPhone to be able to record a station starting from sign on to sign off every day. Also, is the recording retroactive? Because it let me start recording today at 9 am, but it claimed the recording starts at 6 am, and it's already started. Thanks for the otherwise great app—I would love to see improved recording options.
