OVERVIEW

Wireless and Mobility are becoming pervasive inside data centers. It’s time we leverage these trends to simplify data center operations. OpenManage Mobile (OMM) is a software application that enables an IT Administrator to securely configure, monitor, and troubleshoot/remediate a server directly from a mobile device.

OpenManage Mobile can access servers and devices in a data center either remotely or at-the-server (i.e. when an IT Administrator is physically present in front of server).
• IT Administrators can access iDRAC or OpenManage Essentials console remotely over internal network. No special or additional hardware is needed for remote access.
• At-the-server access to iDRAC is enabled through Quick Sync 2 module.

When connected through OpenManage Essentials, OMM can access Dell EMC Servers, Storage, Networking, and Firewall appliances and any other supported third party appliance that is being managed through OpenManage Essentials.

When connected through iDRAC (whether remotely or at-the-server), OMM can directly access the server and perform various management functions.

SUPPORT CONSIDERATIONS


• Quick Sync 2 module for at-the-server access is available on PowerEdge 14th generation rack servers (R940, R740, R740xd, R640, R540, R440 and T640). Note: Quick Sync 2 utilizes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to establish a secure connection between server and mobile device running OMM.
• Remote access to iDRAC is supported on 14th gen (iDRAC9), 13th gen (iDRAC8), and 12th gen (iDRAC7) servers. IDRAC6 AND PREVIOUS VERSIONS ARE NOT SUPPORTED.
• Remote access to OpenManage Essentials is supported on OME v2.1 and later.
• Some features depend on the type of access (OME or iDRAC) and the specific generation of server being used. Please consult the OMM Users Guide at http://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/19/dell-openmanage-mobile-v2.0/OMM201iOSUG/

KEY FEATURES OF OMM (When connected through OpenManage Essentials console):

• Connect to multiple OME servers from a single mobile device. Minimum recommended OME version is v2.1.
• Receive critical alert notifications on your mobile device as they arrive into your OpenManage Essentials console.
• Browse server details, health status, hardware & firmware inventory, networking details, and System Event logs. Share this information easily with other IT Administrators.
• Acknowledge, forward and delete alerts from your mobile device.
• Power On, Shut down, or Reboot your server from anywhere.



KEY FEATURES OF OMM (When connected through iDRAC):


• Remote: Connect to any 14th gen, 13th gen, or 12th gen server remotely.
• At-the-server: Access 14th gen servers through Quick Sync 2 module.
• For “bare metal configuration,” assign IP address, change credentials, and update common BIOS attributes.
• Configure one server manually, or multiple servers simultaneously through a template.
• Browse server details, health status, hardware & firmware inventory, networking details, and System Event or LC logs. Share this information easily with other IT Administrators.
• Access SupportAssist reports, Last Crash screen and video (PowerEdge 14th gen servers).
• Access Virtual Console (and reduce the need for crash carts). 
• Power On, Shut down, or Reboot your server from anywhere.
• Run RACADM commands.

Unexplained “background activity” - FIXED!!

Not sure whether consequent Apple updates .01, .02, and now .03 fixed it but the issues described below is now gone. I’ve monitored the battery usage do several days and no more background activity is reported.
Also, the developers response and follow ups are absolutely impressive and deserves 5 STARS! Thank you!

The app is closed, hasn’t been opened for weeks and even though the battery usage reports daily “background activity” during last 24 hours time period! The background app refresh is off

OpenManage Mobile abides by Apple’s application policies and does not override any of the background activity frameworks. If a user has enabled background refresh, we only request background activity for remote notifications (used for receiving push notifications from an OpenManage Essentials console) and for Bluetooth Low Energy communication with Quick Sync 2 module.

Doesn't work with the m1000e CMC

Unfortunately doesn't work with the m1000e CMC directly although it can connect to PowerEdge M630 blades iDRAC directly... Support for the enclosure status would be awesome!
