Navigating Open Table
I've been using OT to book reservations for a long time with varying degrees of success. When it works it's great, when it doesn't not so much . Often times unavailable thru OT are available thru direct calling; I get it; restaurants don't like to pay for service they feel they may not need at certain times .
I find the most annoying part is attempting to redeem points . In spite of claiming it can be done on line ( not from phone ) I have never been successful. What works for me is calling by phone .
The assistants are pleasant & helpful but the process should be made simpler .
Still, occasionally being able to accumulate enough points & save a little money is an incentive but I would appreciate a more convenient system .
Be careful when reading this
This truly is an app that you will wonder what you did before. You might even forget how to book a reservation the old fashioned way. Don't ask me because I've already forgotten!
Do you know where you want to dine? Great! Enter the restaurant name, select the number in your party, the time you want, and any special needs. Next you push a button and magically...you are done!
Don't know where you want to eat or what kind of food you want? Select from various options; nearest to you? Best Somali Food? Best Ostrich? Okay maybe not those but enter your selections or let it suggest and a couple of steps later and maybe 10 whole seconds and you are confirmed.
Or you can do it the old fashioned way...whatever that is?
Update--
I've used OpenTable for more than a year and it is still as great as ever. I honestly cannot think of a single reason to use a different method of making reservations. Unless you are a truly nostalgic intellectual moron.
So helpful & convenient
I've used OpenTable about 8 times now to make reservations, so I'm finally convinced that I can submit an honest opinion about the app. This has been so helpful in suggesting restaurants in areas that I was looking into, and making reservations has been so easy to do. I've never had any problems with using the app, nor with any reservations I've made through OT.
I've never checked my points, and I have no idea how that works, but not too worried because that's not why I use the app. Thanks, OpenTable!
