Love this App!

I have bipolar 1, and I have been looking for a good way to track my moods since I was diagnosed three years ago. I always felt that my moods were too complicated to be described by a single number and I had trouble finding a good way to track more. I love how many different things I can track on optimism with it still being quick and easy to use. I especially like how customizable the app is. For instance I replaced "feeling guilty" on the symptoms page to "manic symptoms" because the second is a much bigger problem for me. I also like the freedom of having some fields have sliders for intensity while other fields can be made yes/no. Optimism starts with a useful list of suggestions in the symptoms, triggers and stay well strategies, which is great if you aren't sure what to track.

I would strongly recommend this app to anyone who is bipolar. It is perfect for tracking complicated moods and triggers. I would also recommend this app to anyone who has borderline or is in dbt, because it can easily be used to track coping skills and triggers in relationship to mood. I especially like the "how coped" field because it separates the initial mood from my actions afterwards. The "stay well strategies" field is great for recording different dbt techniques that were used, and the number of different symptoms could easily be used to track different parts of borderline or bipolar, for example recklessness, hypersexuality, thrill seeking, poor conflict management, etc.

Great App

I use this app to track my moods and symptoms in regards to Bipolar Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and I find it very helpful. It gives a wide range of symptoms and triggers and other things to track day-to-day, and a notes section so that you can take note of anything specific that happens that day that might be relevant.

I don't like the chart report feature, though. It doesn't tell me as much as the report version does. The chart displays less information, so even though it has its helpful uses, it doesn't show the full picture like the "report" version of the report does.

Why I am not getting this app

Just wrote a letter to the company, after first downloading the desktop version, and then downloading a version for my iPad - which the iPad version not requires an internet connection to use, but requires me to give my name and email to register this product:
I am really troubled that I have to register my version I downloaded to my iPad - I realize that you do this to have the app sync with the desktop version.
However, I do not do anything that requires going through "the cloud" - I am very private and information, especially such as information I might want to keep track of using this product, is not anything that I want any remote chance of going through a third party.
The fact that I can not sync directly with my computer, or maybe do not even want to sync at all, should make your program have the option to be used as a stand alone app.
That it requires an internet connection makes me very suspicious of your program, and in fact, will not use your desktop version for that reason. With the age of constantly being connected with the internet, I have no control if your app then is sending out data on me.
