What's New in Version 2.0
Thank you for your patience while we updated the Orvis Fly Fishing app for iOS6 and iPhone 5.
We also fixed bugs related to the registration process.
Excellent concept. Possesses the ability to be extremely useful.
I have been messing around with this App for about 8 months, and I have purposely been slow to provide my rating. For the most part, the negative comments are true, except I have never experienced any malfunctions/hangs with the software. Currency of the information is the biggest problem. Conceptually, Orvis has a home run. I truly think were the problem lies is with Green Mountain Digital, the software publisher.
After real careful review, I don't think Green Mountain possess the ability to translate the Orvis requirement into an Orvis Quality product. If this product is hard to update, it is because the publisher has a design flaw.
My recommendation would be for Orvis to ditch Green Mountain, and locate a developer who understands quality as much as Orvis does, and switch over to them. The execution of this app is the primary reason for the negative aspects.
I really love the ability to search through the entire Podcast library. Really awesome. Tom, excellent job with ALL you do for Orvis. I really am sad the the quality of the execution of this product is not Orvis quality. Unfortunately, Green Mountain only has been able to obtain the minimum requirements that begins to address the requirements I am sure Orvis has put forth.
Orvis, please take and swallow the bitter pill, fire Green Mountain and start over again with a company who places customer experience above cashing the check.
Too expensive for what you are getting
I bought this app to get river reviews and best places to access new rivers and streams that I am unfamiliar with. If you are looking for the same then this is probably not the best app. They have a very minimal amount of rivers for some states. I went to Georgia and fished up in the mountains which has great fishing but only two rivers total were reviewed for the state. And the two rivers were really some of the last places I would want to fish. If they create an open source type blog for reviews I'm sure they would get so much more data.
I have had this app for about a week. There is a ton of useful information contained in the app. The fly fishing reports are at most two or three days old. The videos offer excellent advice. Yes, there could be improvements, personally I think the app is worth the price. By the way, Orvis sends a $10 coupon after you complete the registration.
