Classic platforming meets modern design in a game built and optimised for touch controls.

The Driftlands are a gothic and frightening place at the best of times….And this is not the best of times. The Aurora stone has been stolen from the great Lighthouse by an unknown and shadowy creature. Without its light, the Driftlands will be destroyed.

Enter Oscura our highly unlikely hero. He is the keeper of the lighthouse, and possesses a mysterious eternally glowing hand. Oscura must travel the lands and gather the shards to restore the Aurora stone - before it is too late and darkness befalls on the whole universe.

Inspired by early platformers from the 1990’s, Oscura delivers a stripped down platforming experience through the filter of modern game and art design.

Built for touch devices from the ground up, Oscura: Second Shadow is optimised and designed around the capabilities and limitations of touch to ensure that the controls are never at fault.

Dive into the world of the Driftlands, where engineering meets nature and strange creatures stalk. With the Aurora stone shattered, Oscura’s glowing hand and the shards of the stone are the only light sources, creating a stark and beautiful silhouette art style.

Journey through 20 challenging levels, each crafted by hand rather than using tile-sets.

Slight of frame and without any weaponry or brute force, Oscura must rely on his wits and reflexes to avoid foes and hazards alike. He’s no hero, just doing his job.

Completing levels is one thing, collecting all four stars for each level is quite another. Replay levels to perfect your run and beat the goals for time, collecting cogs, shards and getting through without dying.

Oscura: Second Shadow is a Universal App and is compatible with iPod 4, iPod 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad Mini Retina.

Don't be "duped" by the bad reviews

This game is way more fun than some of the misled reviewers might lead you to believe.
People see a silhouette style game and think it's gonna be like the one other one they are aware of. It's not limbo or badland and doesn't claim to be. Its an entertaining, dark platform game along the lines of Mario. Very imaginative and creative but somewhat difficult at the same time. The guidelines for acquiring 4 stars each level are tough to say the least, but the challenge is reasonable and adds to the fun of the game. The controls are fun once you get the hang of them, however the visible design of the controls on the screen do take away from the visual aesthetic of the game design at times (which isn't jaw dropping but cool enough to leave an ambient impression). Anyway, if you like the simple old school platform games with a spooky modern twist I highly recommend you buy this game.

Not a full game!!
I was actually shocked when the credits came up! "What!? Thats it!?!"

This game itself is ok at best. There a nice graphics. Other than that its a basic platformer. For 99 cents it might be acceptable but i feel ripped off having paid $2.99.

It is only 20 levels, and they are very short. There are no bosses or battles or anything else interesting. Just basic short levels where you dodge saw blades and a few bad guys here and there. The game is really like an unfinished beta, as if they were going to make this really cool game and just gave up.

Also the music is awful and repetitive, again as if they just threw on a track just to call it finished.

You can of course go back and do the same levels over to collect all the cogs?(there is nothing in the story that gives any reasoning behind collecting cogs), but with such boring levels, i really don't even feel like replaying them. I would avoid this if i were you. There are plenty of 3 dollar games that are filled with depth and hours of fun.

Good, but glitchy

Having played the first game that was removed from the App Store, I was excited to see this new one.
I love the art, and gameplay is good, but there are still some glitches, the physics seem a bit odd, and overall it feels like it wasn't completely finished yet. I hope to see updates fixing these issues in the future, because this is a good game.
