One of the best out there
This is it!!! I've been looking for a good solid fun and challenging strategy game out there and have finally found it in this game. Once you get the knack of the game it will provide hours of fun. There is no pressure to buy stuff, but the game is so much fun I did anyway and it was well worth it for an extra couple of bucks.
The only drawback of the game is it sometimes takes awhile to complete some games because you have to wait for the other player to take their turn. Really it is no big deal. I get 10+ games going at a time and when I log back in it is usually my turn to go on a few games. This is actually convenient because I have a busy schedule. I can pick up the game at my leisure and play a bunch of games and when work interrupts just set it down and come back later. No pressure. Each turn requires thought and strategy. Climbing the ranks is fun. There are some good players out there. 5🌟
Master the Basics
Outwitters is a great game following a great philosophy: keep the rules simple and intuitive, and let the players complicate things on their own. Each team shares 5 common units and have a single special unit with unique abilities, which works great: the basics apply to everyone, but the special units each have a unique ability that differentiates the team play styles. There are no random elements, so a calculating player can often gauge his opponents's whereabouts and options even through the ever-present fog-of-war, and games stay tense because you never know if your opponent is more prepared than you. Add to that a striking amount of graphical polish and a professional soundtrack, and you have a strategy game that anyone can get into!
Updated review: an underrated classic!
After taking a year hiatus from playing this game, I've been sucked back in and appreciate it even more. This is a stone-cold strategy classic with awesome production values, easily one of my favorites regardless of platform. The presentation is top-notch, whimsical, and has a ton of personality. It's a pity that the game didn't take off as well as OML would have liked, but the community is great and the game has endured. Please support this game if it's your cup of tea with an IAP or two, and here's to hoping for the next turn based strategy game the developer has recently hinted at!
