Effective although Sluggish

I've been using this app for over two years after reading the book TCOYF. I'm very happy using the FAM method, and this app does what it needs to do. My main complaint with the app is that it tends to be slow...slow to log me in, slow to enter new data, and slow to pull up my chart. As soon as I save a new data point (BBT for example) the app shuts me out for a few seconds while it shows the dreaded "updating cycle information" progress bar and I can't enter additional info during that time. I wish that it would wait to do this until the app has been inactive for, say, five seconds so as not to interrupt me. It's especially problematic when I'm entering my BBT in the morning (before I'm fully awake), because I tend to fall asleep again while I wait to be logged in! To get around the sluggishness, I was hoping to create a shortcut using Workflow or Launch Center, but sadly ovagraph isn't compatible with these apps. It would also be nice if it could integrate with iOS's Health app. Overall I give four stars because I'm grateful for the app being free and without ads, and I do recommend it. These are just my suggestions for the developers to further improve. I know there are many similar apps out there, but I'd rather not switch away from ovagraph after having used it for so long. Thank you and please keep updating! :)

Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback! A good internet connection will help your app log you in and sync quickly, so do check on that. Feel free to reach out to our support team for any additional tips/tricks to get the most out of charting with OvaGraph - we're happy to help!:

I have been using this app alongside working with a fertility doctor to get pregnant. I appreciate that it allows me to feel a bit more in control and knowledgeable about my body.

However, I find the app much more confusing to use than necessary. Inputting data is fine, but figuring out how to do anything else is a hassle. There’s a laundry list of FAQs in the app, but it’s the FAQs for the mobile app and regular website - which is more confusing than helpful. It would be helpful if there was an actual page that explains everything, so when you start using the app you know how to customize things, figure out the language you all are using (abbreviations, etc), how different components of the app and charting are referred to, and take advantage of all parts of the app - which I’m sure I haven’t because it’s impossible to know how to do or where to find anything.

Also, I’ve been wondering this for months - what do the numbers in the BBT circles on the chart mean??? I can’t find the answer anywhere.

Developer Response

Thanks for your note! Why don't you send an email to our team so we can get you pointed in the right direction to utilize everything the app has to offer!: They'll be able to point you to the FAQ about where to find what the circled BBT readings are too!

Yes, the app works as promised, but the usability is terrible. The app is very slow. The developer mentions a good internet connection will ease that. I have 100 up/down WiFi and 5 bars service, and my app is still painfully slow.

Entering data requires tapping edit, entering data (including scrolling through numbers for my temp, rather than a number pad entry which would be quicker), and then tapping save. Edit and save are “worthless clicks” in my opinion that offer the user and app no benefit. After I save information, there’s approximately a 5s pause while the app is “updating cycle information” and you can do nothing but wait. Since I enter data into the app multiple times per day, the app sluggishness is quite inconvenient, and it’s even more painful if I’m trying to enter multiple days data, for example this mornings temp and yesterday’s cervical fluid because it must update the cycle between when you save each days data.

The app seems to work as stated for me, but it has a long way to go to be user friendly, smooth, and intuitive.
