I've never been this excited about books
And I say this as someone who loves reading. The discovery and curation is top-notch, and I love poking around my friend's reading lists. And jeez, the design. I'm currently a devotee of the Nomad theme, but sometimes I play it classic with Standard.
It's one of the very few apps I use multiple times a day: during my commute, relaxing on my bed, and while grabbing a quick bite. Where I'd otherwise be blank-minded or distracted, I'm actually doing something I love: reading. I've already gone through three books in the last two weeks. It's certainly the most mobile and beautifully designed option out there.
I am LOVING Oyster.
This is a wonderful platform. Unlimited books for one low price is pretty awesome when you enjoy reading as much as I do. You won't find this year's best sellers on here, but you'll find TONS of great books, including best sellers from just a couple of years ago. For me, this is wonderful.
The app has a few odd glitches, esp. with highlighting, and the reading list organization leaves something to be desired, but this app delivers on its core value proposition very well and provides a seamless reading experience, therefore I am giving it five stars.
Constantly evolving to serve users
Oyster is a great concept and almost flawlessly executed, but what really makes it great is the fact that the team is so invested in the user experience and very open to suggestions. The small group is very accessible, willing to listen, and even give book recommendations. It's the customer service that makes the overall experience so delightful.
I was determined not to like Oyster — the last thing I need is another monthly subscription to pay — but I love it.
