Known issue with MapMyFitness
Edit: There is a known issue with MapMyFitness integration that you should know about before downloading this app. If you want to use MMF, you will not be able to sync it with Pact. I had to switch to Runkeeper. Fine whatever. But why offer the integration when it doesn't work? Also customer service literally does not care about you. And you will have to create a zendesk account in order to communicate with them. I'll keep using this because I like the concept, but if another company comes along and offers the same thing with better service and working integrations, I will switch. I don't feel good about this company, and I will not recommend this app to anyone else.
Original review:
Four major issues and I just downloaded this app today. One, it will not integrate with MapMyFitness due to an authentication error. Two, when I submitted the issue to support, the app froze. I was able to submit it the second time. Three, when I received the response from support, I had to log on to a separate zendesk site where my usual account credentials did not work, so I couldn't view the response! Finally, the app crashes every time I try to add a photo to my profile. If support hadn't responded so quickly and I didn't believe in the model, I'd have given this one star and ditched it. If I can't communicate with support, that's exactly what I'm going to do. SUPREMELY annoying experience.
Great concepts, a few critiques
The concept of this app is great. Money is a good motivator. Personally, I'm already fit and healthy so this is a really easy way to hold me accountable and earn a little extra money. However, I think there should be more education about what is healthy and what a serving is. That would keep things more consistent with voting. Also, the app is very glitchy. I've managed to make it work for me, but it is annoying. As well, I don't feel like there is enough information of how the app actually works. When I send questions, I got the same generic answer for each one. Then, they put my pact on hold. My latest problem was being stuck in a loop when I tried to connect to MyFitnessPal, I'm sure I'll forgive that out too though (I have an iPhone6s). I hope it all can be resolved because I actually like the concept and would like to see it with all the kinks worked out. Good luck developers! 😉👍🏼
Update: I changed my rating from a 3 to a 4 because I explained my struggle to reach my goal and asked how the pay out worked so I could make up my loss. The lovely lady who helped me changed my goal so I wouldn't be charged and explained everything! She was so encouraging too. I still have some issues, but it looks like they are working on improving the app.
Glitchy and slow
I love the concept of this app, and when it works it's great. It's an effective motivator for me to workout and it's hard to cheat. However, I used it a long time ago and had to quit because it's so slow and glitchy. Half the time, my workouts wouldn't count because the app would shutdown during a workout, or would just spin its wheels when trying to check in or out of the gym. Nothing more frustrating than getting a solid hour workout in, clicking the finish button, letting it spin for minutes, and then giving up and cancelling the workout. I had adjusted by selecting 3 workouts per week with the real goal of 5-6, knowing that my workouts wouldn't register half the time. That works for a while, but sometimes it's so glitchy that even that isn't enough and I need to contact customer service. CS is hit or miss. If simply asking for a workout to be counted, they're generally pretty good and easy, but I've had a couple instances of going around in circles with them which is why I quit the first time. I decided to try the app again with the hope that the app performance had improved, but I'm having the exact same issues, which is too bad.
