Pain Tracker & Diary by Nanolume®
"Designed for patients who wish to keep a detailed diary that depicts each and every type of pain they are living with every day."

TRACK IT BETTER. TREAT IT BETTER.
Now you can distinctly track, map, and monitor not only the intensity, but also the pattern and extent of spread, of at least 12 uniquely different types of pain on your mobile device, using PATENT-PENDING technology.

PAIN IS LIFE-CHANGING
When you are suffering with severe pain, you want to enable others to see exactly what you are living with every day.

Tracking your pain is important in treating your pain. When your healthcare providers can see and better understand exactly how your pain changes over time, trends can emerge that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Pain is a complex sensation that can constantly change with varying intensities, textures, locations, and patterns of spread. This is especially true for individuals who suffer with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a/k/a Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD).

Nanolume®, the interactive pain-tracking diary, makes it easy for you to track, analyze, and map at least twelve individually distinct types of pain every day. By more completely knowing what types of pain a person is suffering with, such knowledge can be used to help develop a more accurate diagnosis and/or treatment plan.

PAIN IS DIFFERENT
Healthcare professionals consider pain to be the 5th vital sign, along with blood pressure, heart rate, ventilation rate, and temperature. While the first 4 vital signs are objective findings that can be easily measured with tools that don’t require patient-based descriptions or explanations, the 5th vital sign is different.

Pain is a subjective – not objective – vital sign; it cannot be directly measured. Its assessment relies on the ability of the sufferer to be able to understand and completely describe what he or she feels.

This Pain Tracker & Dairy by Nanolume® helps you recall details you might otherwise forget so you can better communicate your pain experiences so that your healthcare team can follow your progress and treat you based on the most accurate and complete pain-related information you can offer them.

Really love this app, but

Dropped my phone a couple days ago and I can’t find any way to transfer a years worth of pain entries! The screen shot doesn’t work correctly either. When I touch the screen shot button it closes the app. So I am really hoping that iTunes will back up all the pain entries along with the app. Think maybe there should be a better way to xfer pain entries. A mass xfer would be preferable and would be a nice addition for xferrimg the data to your doctors instead of taking a picture of every single entry.

Too many charges

I downloaded this app because on another review I read from the company that you can get full access to the added features for only $2.99. That turned out not to be true, as there is an added charge for every little thing you want to actually use. Also, you can only add three custom pain categories at a cost of .99. And everything is color coded or has a silly graphic attached. It would be more useful if the user were able to actually name their most common symptoms to track. Stupid app.

Too many additional purchases

Originally I thought it was a great app. But functions that you really need to make it useful started becoming a charge. $1.99 here. $2.99 there by the time I would be done paying for all the additional charges I would need to make this app truly functional to track ALL my pain (numbness included, that's an extra charge) the entire app is over $10. Not worth it. I'm sure there is something better out there. I'm already dealing with fighting pain everyday, I just need an app that is easy and one price.

Developer Response

We offer a limited free trial of our basic app to individuals who are suffering with chronic pain. We do this to help potential buyers decide if our app can help them. After 10 entries, we think most users can probably get a good idea if they might like the app. If so, unlimited access to the primary software called "Unlimited Pain Entries" can be purchased for $2.99 (USD). This is a one-time charge that allows users to individually track the intensities, locations, and patterns of spread and coverage areas of over 12 different types of pain as many times a day as you want. In addition, this feature provides chart reviews that summarize the pain intensity and coverage area of your pain. That is a lot of functionality for $2.99 (USD).

Like so many other things in life that we might purchase, there are almost always extra options and upgrades that are available. For example, "Numbness" is not pain, therefore, it is not included with the "Unlimited Pain Entries" option. This add-on feature also includes intensities, locations, and coverage areas, and just like with pain types, these data are summarized and charted separately. There is a separate charge for this extra feature -- but, as with all our options, it is only a one-time charge for unlimited use.

We have other extra features, some of which, users have requested. Since many users do not need or want the extra features, we charge separately for these "extras."
