If you ever played Heroes of Might and Magic as a kid, this is basically that. The enjoyment I derrive from this game is so inherently tied to my naustagia for Heroes as a kid, I'm not sure how I'd feel about this game on its own. That said, it's really fun. And yes, there are some glitches. But it's worth it (for me).
This game has much to offer, but it's so poorly executed that I get pretty frustrated with it. If just a little more thought, and a fair bit of programming cleanup went into it, it would be spectacular.
-Battle mode needs an overhaul. It's significantly slow, and unclear (spells). The movement points are a bit uninteresting. I would rather see something like the Disciples battle structure, where the focus is on the character. Upgrading would be nice, too.
-The maps seem like a crap shoot. One was unwinnable because of a glitch. In one, an enemy became undefeatable, without any explanation. Seems like some of these are battle.net type maps. Rather see those cleaned out, and more thought given to a smaller set of maps.
-Story is nonexistent.
-Game quits of its own accord rather often… except, of course, when you press the quit button. I'm not the first one to point this out.
I know I've only listed complaints, but the game does hold a lot of pull for me. I have wasted many hours already, but they usually end in frustration, and I have stopped playing. Would love to see a major patch, or a v3 with a rethink.
