In-app purchase subscription required to use the PaperKarma app beyond the free trial. All users are granted 4 free requests to unsubscribe from postal junk mail, and will be prompted to choose a subscription plan when submitting their fifth request. Subscription plan options include a recurring charge of $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.

- Subscription options: monthly subscription of $1.99 per month, or yearly subscription of $19.99 per year.
- Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours prior to the end of the current period
- Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period
- Subscriptions may be managed by the user and the auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's iTunes & App Stores Account Settings
- No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period

- Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to PaperKarma.

Scam? Possible - hasn’t stopped any junk mail

I was excited to use this app and eagerly scanned junk mail. They collected my personal information (name, address), which made sense for this situation. However, I was only able to “unsubscribe” from 4 pieces of junk mail without paying. Jump to several months later and I’m STILL receiving junk mail from the places I used Paper Karma for AND I’m getting more junk mail than ever before. The increase in junk mail might be a coincidence, but the failure to unsubscribe me in the first place is giving me serious doubts. IF they wanted to collect names and addresses to sell to companies to increase junk mail, this would be the perfect model to do it. Regardless, this app has proven worthless (possibly less than worthless because I’m worse off than when I started). Please don’t make the same mistake I did.

Rest assured, we do NOT rent out your information to anyone. The whole point of our service is to stop unwanted solicitations.

Regarding your increase in junk mail, first look at charities that are allowed by law to sell your info once you donate. Secondly, we'd love to earn back your trust. Please do reach out to us. We believe we can help.

Doesn’t work


10 out of my 11 requests are still pending. They all say “You’re one of the first people to request removal from this company. We have it in our queue now, but figuring out other companies may take precedence.”

For an app that claims to prevent junk mail from credit card companies, saying that I’m “one of the first people” to report getting junk mail from American Express is pretty hard to believe... I can understand local companies being new to them, but come on... I’ve already paid the $20 for the yearly subscription so I’m constantly entering in new junk mail in hopes that they’ll stop telling me that everything is new to them!

What is the point of the app if the developers didn’t research all the companies and how to follow through with their big claims to prevent junk mail from companies?? It’s a great idea, but they’re not following through with their claims on what it can actually do.

I’ll continue to enter in all my junk mail... but it’s getting pretty disappointing.

Hi, this is a default screen we inherited. We have been working on improving the app and have now launched a complete rebuild of the app. The messaging for issues like this has changed.

Cost is Unjustifiable


I had this app for a long time back when it was free, and it worked reasonably well. There was still a number of items I could not remove, but it did remove quite a few. However, it also didn’t last. It seems you have to remove yourself every year from some of these subscribers.

As time went on, the app proved to be less and less effective at removing catalogs and credit card email. I seemed to get more and more. I don’t think this was the app’s doing, but I do think the app have somehow lost some of its effectiveness.

Then one day, they asked me for money. A LOT of money. I fail to understand how you can possibly justify charging $20 a year just for using this app, especially when the app was free for so long. I would have supported a one-time $5 purchase, but a monthly subscription? Talk about shifting from a philanthropic mindset to an absolutely crass, cash grab. Take Karma out of your name—it’s now an oxymoron.

I’ve deleted the app from my phone.
