Fujitsu ScanSnap Product
Remember when everyone talked about how we would soon be a paperless society? Now it seems like we use paper more than ever. Let’s face it – we need and we use paper. But Paperless 2 is one of those incredibly useful applications that will help you manage all your paper and digital documents and at the same time positively affect the environment.
Don't dread tax time. No more bringing a shoebox full of receipts to your accountant. According to ruling Rev. Proc. 97-22 from the IRS, a digital document is acceptable. With Paperless 2 you can create a Smart Collection and keep all your documents neat and tidy and in one place. Additionally, once you store your receipts in Paperless 2, you can select the receipts to email, print, or export to PDF, or even show as a chart.
Paperless 2 has the ability to keep up and maintain the task of not only reducing your need for paper but managing the paper you use. Simply scan your receipts, bills, statements, warranty cards, business cards – any paper document and the OCR function of Paperless 2 recognizes the data and adds it to the Details Window. The built-in search functionality even lets you find and organize receipts and documents into Smart Collections. Already have your documents as PDFs or other file formats? No problem. Simply drag and drop them into Paperless 2. By taking your paper receipts, product manuals and other documents and creating an electronic record you’ve already reduced your need for paper.
Need even more convincing? Here's a small sampling of why to use Paperless:
-Prepare expense reports
Once you store your receipts in Paperless, you can select the receipts to email, print, or export to PDF.
-Painlessly handle taxes
In most cases, the IRS (or other tax authority) may accept electronic copies of your receipts. Paperless makes gathering information for taxes a snap!
-Manage flexible spending
Put items into a category called Medical or Flexible Spending, then create a smart collection for the time period.
-Store owners manuals
Simply add your owners manuals to a Paperless library and they're accessible with a few quick keystrokes.
-Acess legal documents
Many lawyers are moving from the massive amounts of paper they generate to electronic storage. Paperless is the perfect solution.
-Be ready in case of disaster
Paperwork in Paperless before a disaster will make recovery easier.
In a nutshell, Paperless helps you help the world be a greener place to live.

Ratings and Reviews
Gread document management software
Very confused by the negative reviews.
I use the software to scan bills, statements, receipts, and documents (was looking to slowly convert to a paperless home instead of filing the mass amount of bills, statements, etc. that come in the mail daily). The software works flawlessly for me. I have migrated to several different comptuers (iMac to Mac Air) all with out issue. I have tried Neat Receipts and Paperless. Paperless is 10 times better and more customizable.
The one area it is lacking is syncing to iCloud. It does not do this so I use dropbox. I know Paperless recommends against this, but it has worked great for me. In a nutshell I store the paperlesss library in a dropbox folder that replicates up to the cloud. The other lacking feature is an iPad app. Would be great to look up a document while on the go.
- Easy UI
- More flexible & poweful than Neat receipts
- Great organization features
- Ability to create custom fields and data types
- No Cloud syncing support
- No iPad app (would require cloud support)
- Changing the way data is viewed based on data type (for example, it would be great is business cards were displayed looking as if they were business cards).
Great scan and electronic doc management software for someone looking to do away with papers, statements, and documents around the home. I use with the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner (S1500M)
wish it was a little better
I bought Paperless a few months ago when I bought my new Scansnap scanner (which rocks), but they didn't provide software for mac. On the face of it, it does what it claims, and it has some interesting advanced functions, but its bugginess is annoying, and it makes me nervous about the hundreds of pages I have already imported into it. I was on a scanning/shredding bender today, and for some reason, the autocorrect kept substituting the first letter of whatever I typed and prevented me from changing it (I found a clunky workaround, but that is stupid.)
I also use Evernote, which is not entirely problem-free, but it doesn't try to help me too much like Paperless. I'm annoyed by the constant prompts to back up (good idea under the circumstances). The autofill, which I can't figure out how to turn off, is awful. I like the data entry features in Paperless, but the little annoyances prevents me from committing to it for business.
Good Option for Neat Refugees, Clear Room for Improvement
My paperless office fell apart when Neat abandoned their non-cloud desktop software customers, suddenly, and without warning. Paperless is a good option for people to fall back to, now that they have clearly left the space. Articles covering life after Neat Desktop go into more detail. I still prefer Neat on my older Yosemite machine for scanning, as it has much better OCR than Paperless. Paperless replicates the document management features of Neat well, but scanning and OCR leaves massive room for improvement. Also, a lack of cross-compatibility between Mac and Windows versions of Paperless is another minus. With older, functional Windows PCs quite literally serving as doorstops for me (and many others), it would be really nice to tap one of my spare older Windows PCs to keep a shadow copy of my Paperless vault on, always at the ready.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
