Paste Plain Text automatically converts any text that you copy into plain text. You can then easily paste text without any formatting/styling into any app of your choice.

The app lives in your menubar and allows you to easily enable and disable plain text conversion at a click of a button.

We’ve worked hard to make Paste Plain Text as simple and efficient as possible for you to use. We would love to hear your thoughts via email and make any improvements to future versions of this app. We intend to have an active development cycle powered by your feedback, love and support!

Simple & Automatic… just what I was looking for.

I’m constantly moving data and text between MS Office apps or for web content. Having to strip-out formatting was just another hassle be it “Paste Special” (extra mouse-clicking) or pasting into another text app only having to re-copy and paste somewhere else. This little goodie does exactly what I was hoping it would do - copy formatted text or data (i.e. from a website (html) or Excel spreadsheet) and when pasted - plain text. Period. If I want to copy and paste with formatting - I simply quit the Paste Plain Text app.
What would be nice if there was a right-mouse click option where I could opt to paste formatted text/data without having to quit the app.

makes moving from Word documents to InDesign documents much simpler

Often needing to bring text from Word into my InDesign layout documents — and wanting to get rid of Word formatting instantaneously — I had developed a convoluted system of copying from Word, pasting into a (non RTF) TextEdit document, then copying again and pasting into the ID file. This makes that much easier, though copying and pasting within an ID document, I need to remember to uncheck the “automatically clear formatting” button.

Nice! + suggestion

Absolutely beats doing lots of highlighing and deleting of text to clean up a text capture. Would be nice if one could specify specific words or phrases to be deleted in addition to standard now used. This would allow a tool that is tailorable to one’s own reading and capturing interests. In my case, the ability to delete the word Advertisement would make this work perfectly for my needs. A darned nice thing still!
