The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) has a long, proud history of producing quality mapping content for the Appalachian Trail community. To reach a new wave of technologically savvy outdoor enthusiasts, the PATC teamed up with International Mapping to create this interactive navigation application. What's New in Version 2.0.0
- Trail navigation has arrived! For instructions on how to use this revolutionary new feature look in the App information section > Tools Instructions
- Custom Markers are now sharable, via email, with others who have the App
- Custom Markers now have the option to change their appearance
- Photos should now attach to Custom Markers properly
For those who use the PATC maps regularly or hike the SNP regularly, this is a must have. If you use this app as your only guide for a multi day hike (and I have), finding a way to conserve battery power can be an issue, but it can be done and performs wonderfully. Advice: learn how to use all the features and you will be much better off.
Must have for SNP
Been waiting for this capability for some time. Not only having the PATC maps in digital form but being able to know precisely where you are on the trail is quite a benefit. Even with an expensive Garmin Unit you can't tell where you located on a specific trail because Garmin only has topo maps which do not have the trails. Thanks PATC, hope to see more of your maps digitized soon.
I use this app with my iPod touch and the Bad Elf GPS accessory and it works great.
File Size is too Large
It seems to work fine, however the App itself takes way too much space. Not sure if it's just the maps or all the photos ( I sure don't need to waste memory space storing PATC photos - I'm out hiking to see my own photos) Would be nice to see them refine the app down to a more minimized amount of info - until then I've removed the app. Would also like to use the app on my desktop computer to set routes that could be relayed to the phone app
