Fixed video playback errors
From Bad to Worse
The PBS iPhone app is one of the worst & most useless I have ever encountered. Today at 10 am local time it refused to open up and show the day's programming. Many times at 6-7 am local time it also does the same. Tap on any particular ahow and the app only gives you a brief history of the series, such as NOVA, American Experience, or Nature. Forget trying to find out more information on a program such as Independent Lens. Over the last few years I have had repeated problems with the PBS app. Program listings are frequentky wrong and there remains the ever present and ever annoying Buy/Donate to PBS ticker at the bottom on a small iPhone screen if you are unfortinate to ever touch it, you're immediately sent to another screen asking for PBS donations. Extremely annoying. After numerous complaints PBS has yet to fix this. I have to assume they just don't care. This app is NOT recommended unless you're a masochist at heart. Out of 5, I rate it 0 stars.
Hire better app. developers!!
The programs offered are great. And almost every title I look for is available. I see more titles added all the time. But the problems I encounter are; the status bar format interferes with navigation, the status (battery, time, etc..) is black, the background is also black which makes it invisible, the back button doesn't work which forces you to restart the app every time you want to go back and the status bar is visible during a video. Those are just the problems I have seen so far.
I am a contributor to my local PBS station (KNME) and will continue to contribute but I hope to see improvement in this application soon.
Needs a lot of work
I love PBS programming. But this app is terrible. It doesn't keep me signed in consistently, sometimes it won't let me sign in, you can't skip forward while watching videos, and the pause button is right next to the "start from the beginning" button. These last two are especially annoying; I hate being 40 minutes into an episode of newshour and when I try to pause, it starts over, and my only choice is to watch the whole thing again, or give up. I end up giving up when that happens. So let people skip forward in during videos, or do a better job of letting me return to the most recently watched spot. If you fix that, this app will be 5 stars because I love PBS.
