What's New in Version 3.6.8

Added links for downloading the manual to the Help section.
Did we mention there's now a manual?! Yes, after nearly twenty-five years, there finally is. Written by one Glenn Fleishman, it's a general introduction to the app, as well as an extensive list of all the settings and buttons and what they actually do.
Added an option to stop themes being applied to menus, in the Advanced section of the settings.
Fixed a crash when importing settings from an iPhone onto an iPad, or vice versa.

Customer Reviews

Great Calc, especially for RPN

For those of us who prefer an RPN type calculator, this app has been the best. This app allows the user to see multiple stack levels which makes using it so much nicer. Very importantly, this calculator lets people have a choice of the old RPN or the updated RPL which it calls HP48 style RPN (RPL was an improvement over basic RPN when using visible multi stack levels). The customization is excellent so you have the functions you specially want readily available.
Also, thank you for listening and implementing customers comments (my request was the choice of a visible error notice instead of the vibrate). Listening to customers is what has propelled this app to be the top general calc app available (especially with so many free calc apps and the Apple supplied one).

Yes, this is the best calculator.

One of my most used apps, highly recommend it.

Quality Control and Customization Issues

I have to say given the maturity of this product and relative price to other Apps i was disappointed in the product.

The product is nice, but the default RPN layouts didn't work for me and that's when the trouble started. The lack of a comprehensive manual didn't help, very unexpected for a product that has been in the market so long. The 3rd-Party one was a good start, but very basic and didn't cover several basic layout tricks and huge limitations with the dec, oct, hex, bin modes.

Then I had to report a couple basic bugs, and the author confirmed the limitations so i had to stop without being able to get the calculator i wanted. Apparently with a text editor I may be able to create it, but limited info (ie. none) is available on that so i have to leave that for another day. :(

I will delay getting the Mac version until things improve.

The good part, is if you like the default layouts, or only need minor changes, like matching the order of the arithmetic keys to your physical calculator or just preference, you'll likely be very happy with this App.

Having the same App on the iPhone, iPad is great, but with the customization available the ability to tune for the specific screen if you don't need the 'exact' same layout on each is really nice. Being also available for the Mac was one thing that convinced me to buy it, but that did not work out yet (see issues above). I didn't try it yet on the watch, but i like that it's available and may give it a try. I didn't use the widget either, but this comprehensive support is to be commended.

I also like the Unicode display features, and the various built in functions and constants. Being able to add your own constants and Functions is also really nice.

Lots to like but i quickly hit a brick wall with the layout, and i feel the advertising is misleading given the huge limitations. If the app had not been around for so long or was significantly less expensive i'd be more forgiving. Rating 3.0-3.5
