The best work app ever
This app is one of my main tools for making my business life work. It stores and displays all kinds of documents, not just pdfs, so I use it as my office file cabinet for the docs I'm working with. You can create and edit folders on the fly, using a folder tree just like on a PC. It syncs with Box, Dropbox and google docs seamlessly. It maps as a network drive on your computer, allowing you to access from your PC all those PDF Expert folders. On my iPhone, it appears in a message as one of the sources from which you can insert an attachment into the email. It's actually better to use to annotate pdfs than acrobat pro (much more intuitive). It allows you to flatten copies to ensure those on the receiving end will see the annotations even when they are pulling it up in preview screens on phones. It unzips files as well (yippee!) It's THE reason I was able to give up carrying paper docs to meetings. Just great.
Better than the other contenders, hands down!
As with any robust application, there is always a learning curve. However, I challenge anyone to find a PDF annotation app that is better. I'm always on the lookout for something that's better, but PDF expert is the best for what I do, and has been for several years now...
There are ways to work around the absence of features taken for granted on desktop PDF editors like Bluebeam, for example. It would be great to have more selective selection options, rather than window only.... it's nice now that all entities selected have halos around them to see what's selected, but being able to de-select items would be great.
Items can be rotated, but you have to copy them to the clipboard, delete them from the pdf, rotate the entire page, paste the item, then rotate the page back the way it was. Irritating!
File operations are fantastic, and syncing with DropBox works well.
Apple Pencil works really well, which what I do primarily with PDF Expert. It has eliminated the need to use paper to do handwriting, and a real pencil has no undo.
I would like to see even more functionality within the writing portion, one thing of particular help would be scale locking, to lock the zoom scale to set standard scales, so handwritten things are easier to keep the correct size.
Excellent App!
I have been using PDF Expert for years. I am a pastor and mostly use it for reading notes, lectures, class syllabi, sermons, lectures, funerals, weddings, and conference speaking. I have created a custom page size in Word that is the same size as my iPad screen. When I finish my notes in Word I save my document to PDF format. Upload the PDF file from Dropbox, and mark up and highlight the text with the tools in PDF Expert. In over six years of use it has never failed, crashed, or caused any problems. They keep adding great features. I highly recommend it!
