I've used peak identification apps before and this is the best of them all. I mean WAY better. The reason is most peak identification apps use augmented reality to superimpose peak names over your live camera image but the peak names rarely match up with the image. It's just not precise enough. This app does something unique by actually rendering the surrounding landscape and displaying the peak names over that image instead. It does an amazing job rendering the landscape. It is incredible. The accuracy of the render is very impressive. I also love how easy it is to change the viewpoint. I may use the GPS to set my current location and then decide that I want to see what the view is from a neighboring peak and it is as easy as two taps on the screen, one tap to open the binoculars and another tap to change the viewpoint. I hike a few hundred miles a year and I highly recommend this app!

Must-have for geo dorks on the front range

Makes it very easy to identify all the peaks, even smaller foothills. All the features you want are there, somewhere-- e.g., you can falsify a higher elevation to see more of the area if desired. The only thing missing is an "exaggerate topo" parameter, as in google earth; some of the peak shapes don't match what your eyes see. It would also be helpful to "layer" mountains, to better differentiate which peaks are behind others (grayscale based on distance would probably work). Overall, solidly built and feature-rich.

Awesome but lacking

An exceptional app that is excellent for orientation. The shortfall is that we exist in smaller spaces than 30 miles away exist a mountain named Whatever. My immediate environment is what interest my. What the eye see is what lacks. Living in Arizona, 100+ mile line of sight is the norm. It has its' place but I will await something that has a perimeter ring that l define what I want to know about. I do really like the feature that allows to adjust view dependent on elevations. Still a favorite but rather than loading every peak from Ca, Nev, Az and Utah, maybe just my area.
