What's New in Version 3.0.7
I've completely revised and updated PeakFinder. Now PeakFinder can fly like a bird. And much more…
I wish you much fun with this update.
••• Perspective rendering •••
For a simpler identification of mountain peaks, the contours of mountains are now highlighted.
Simplified silhouette presentation can still be chosen via settings.
••• Fly •••
PeakFinder can fly from viewpoint to viewpoint. Press on the name of mountain and then on the bird symbol. Then you can explore your next peaks.
Using the arrows at bottom left you can also fly upwards.
••• Automatic compass •••
You don't need to press the compass button any more. Just hold the device upright and the panorama is aligned automatically.
Customer Reviews
Amazing detail!!
I don't write reviews generally, but the latest version of this app is mind-blowing (if you're in to mountains). I live in western Colorado and just pulled up the view from my front door and am blown away by the accuracy of the graphics and peak information. Keep up the great work! I thought about making an app like this a few years ago but don't know the programming bit of it so was pleased to find someone had created the app already. I'm still just blown away by the latest release though. Great, great work!
Update ruined app
Why take a great app and ruin with an unusable update? It no longer find my location accurately. Also the new graphics are harder to see.
Edit: I figured it out. The default view put me below ground level. I couldn't see any mountains despite looking at them in front of me with my own eyes. If you have the same problem, adjust the altitude slider on the left. I take back what I said about the graphics as now I can see the mountains.
Must have for hikers, climbers and other outdoorsy posers
For mountaineers and map-junkies alike, this app is a must have. The new update allows you to better visualize and locate the peaks in realtime. The new flyover feature is much more realistic, as well. I don't typically use tech during climbs, but this is sure to make the summit a lot more fun by enabling you to name every peak in view with 100% accuracy. If anything, it'll impress the flatlanders =)
