What's New in Version 2.6.8
• Bug fixes and stability improvements.
Update fixes NOTHING.
This new update does not fix the Bluetooth LE issue for me, which at this point, means that there's still the same lingering issue. I have no idea what Pebble considers "bug fixes and stability improvements" to be, but they sure didn't deliver. Pebble still cannot find LE and vice-versa with the phone. I feel completely thrown under the bus by Pebble, and even though mine was a gift, I hold nothing but disgust for the poor act of not standing behind their product, and instead trying to upsell their new product that is "guaranteed" to work. I'm looking at saving for an Apple Watch after this god-awful experience.
Like many others, I upgraded to iOS 9, not thinking anything of it. Stupid me, as now my pebble cannot access the advanced notifications center, the LE connection. I plan on downgrading back to iOS 8 via iTunes if I don't see an update this week. I heavily rely on my pebble while I'm at work, and more importantly, it was a gift from a dear friend who lives far away from me. It not working is infuriating for me, so I hope the developers decide to update it soon. I get it was a Kickstarter, but next time, they really ought to think ahead and take point in compatibility. At this point, there's nothing in the support forums, and I'm not even sure if there's a fix coming at this point.. Pretty poor on their end.
When I first bought the Pebble watch, it was right after the iOS upgrade and it worked horrible. Since the latest upgrades by Apple and Pebble, it is working much better. In the last week and a half, I have only had a problem with the LE connection once--when during a run, I completely drained the the battery on the Pebble. When I recharged it, the the LE would not reconnect. I had to forget the Bluetooth connection on my phone and Pebble to get it to work again. Other than that time, no issues.
I really heavily really on the pebble for notification since I usually have to leave my phone on silent due to job. I'm glad notifications working better. That being said, they aren't at a 100% solution yet, but getting close. It seems they need to work on getting it to reconnect after the connection is lost. This was effectively the problem when my battery died.
iOS 9 killed us all!
Okay, so I am still taking away two stars for the LACK OF UPDATES. Seriously. But the bugs everybody describes about the LE band, that is an incompatibility with iOS 9. I'm staying on 8 for now.
To go into further detail, it is IOS that is bugged, NOT this app. In other words, THE APP DOES NOT CONTROL HOW IOS BLUETOOTH WORKS. Hopefully Apple will fix this eventually, but as of right now they've stranded all of us.
UPDATE: Been thinking about this for quite a long time; now I think Apple did this on purpose. So this bug started in later versions of iOS 8, when the Apple Watch came out. Something suspicious? According to Apple's trend, I think so. (I'm not sure though, so don't just turn against them).
UPDATE 2: Now on 9.0.2. Of course, I'm experiencing the same bugs as everyone else, but I've found some ways to get through the system.
First, please understand that your watch connects to your phone twice. The standard connection transfers data (such as watchfaces/apps and data), while the LE connection works for notifications. For some reason, in iOS 9, only ONE connection will TRUELY work at a time. Normally I have the notification band running (duh) but sometimes I need to switch in order to change apps. It isn't nearly perfect but it works. Oh well, ---- iOS 9. I really shouldn't have upgraded.
