Would be a great game if they just fixed the bugs...
They did a great job recreating the card game but the AI isn't hard because it uses a solid strat. It's hard because it cheats...or rather the shuffling routine is fubar since the BS shows up in PvP games. With a deck of 30-40 cards of which just 4-5 are boss cards, 2-3 boss cards will come up in a single draw. When the deck is reshuffled, bam another hand with 2-3 boss cards again. When the shuffle's working, there seems to be a bug with the Natural Twenty card. Instead of doubling the card that's being selected it's doubling the previous natural twenty. For instance if you have a card worth 2 tokens, the first Natural Twenty doubles tokens to 4 as expected. The next doubles the NT card so you have 8 tokens. And so on. When I do it, it goes 2 + 2 + 2. I've tried selecting the NT card in case they interpreted the card different but no dice. Please fix the game. Oh and watch out for the 15 min online games. The timer starts when the initiating player starts the game so if you give up waiting for them to start and they start it when you're away, you'll forfeit the game.
Good game, limited card selection
I like the game and game mechanics and I've been a fan of PA for a while. The card selection is very limited and gets sort of old on repeated playthroughs. This was a problem with the base set of Dominion too and should get better with more sets released. I like the Boss mechanic, especially having a goo and bad boss out at the sometime. It helps the Ascension problem of having to commit to money or power and being screwed if you guess wrong
Again, fun game. Definitely recommend it and plan to buy any expansion packs.
Finally, after playing a number of games...Natural 20 is the absolute most broken card I've seen in just about any deck building game I've played short of the infinite turn loop combo in Ascension. Buy 'em all!
Great game, not so great app
The game is fantastic. I'd previously played the physical version, but as others have said, it wasn't fully realized until it became an app. It's fantastic.
My only real gripe is that it's not possible to mute the sound on the app. You can turn the audio all the way down, but you can still hear it faintly. When you're listening to music, it's not so much an issue, but if you're listening to podcasts or talk radio, it's really distracting. I honestly want to give this app 5 stars, but the audio thing is bad enough that I can only give it 3. I'll gladly change my rating when they fix the issue.
