Initially not so sure, but.....!

When I got the tablet form I wasn't sure I could adapt to settling in for the night with my good "read" with a glass of wine. My guilty pleasure has been, for more years than I care to count, a "night in with People and a glass (or two ) of wine". It's always worked well, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? And I wasn't sure I wanted to give up the rustling of the papers which added to the ambience of the "comfy night home " experience. I am very much a creature of habit.

However the tablet form arrived a day earlier than the paper copy and I was curious!. I had to open it, and from the first page I was captured. The pictures are more intense and bring a clarity usually reserved for the big screen to the magazine, plus it is loaded with extra features, giving me much ore reading! Impressed ? Oh Yeah!.

I waited for two weeks before committing to a review, because I did not want this to be a case of fascination with the first edition I'd seen. I can now, having seen it three times, state that the quality is maintained throughout all issues and formats. I endorse the tablet form of People magazine wholeheartedly and and only wish I'd found it earlier! Bring it on, People!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

Please consider if you’re going to become a subscriber. I have been one since 2001, and “print and digital” since 2014. Imagine my surprise when I renewed last October only to find when my new subscription started it was for print only. Where was that on my renewal form? Oh, it wasn’t. It was just a RENEWAL FORM. And since I had been doing the same thing for 4 years... why would I quit? But when I contacted Customer Service and then Account Services...I was told “we’re so very sorry but our system won’t allow us to add the digital option to your account, not at that price”. WHAT? It was over $200 so it’s not like it was a buck! And where was that noted on the renewal form, that there were different prices for print vs. print and digital? But for an additional fee, they would be HAPPY to add it on. I said, “no thanks”, and will be deciding with my husband if we just want to cancel outright or let the subscription run out and not renew. Either way, this money-grubbing magazine won’t get another dime out of me. If this is how a customer of over 17 years is treated well...this is obviously not the magazine for me.
And the app leaves a lot to be desired, by the way. A LOT.

This app is faulty!

I've not written but one other review since I bought an ipad 2 plus years ago. My ipad is completely up-to-date along w/the apps I purchase. The People app has been nothing but trouble. Purchasing is easy. Problem resolution is NOT! When People would not resolve my issue it was handed over to Itunes who refunded my purchases and suggested there had been issues (I don't recall whether it ended up being People or Itunes w/the problem. ITunes said the problem was resolved and suggested I download again after reinstall. I did that several weeks ago. Opened the app a few minutes ago and I can not access MOST of my magazines. Epic fail! Contacting Itunes. They will undoubtedly make this good but I guarantee you People customer service is not even an option this time. Those people were extremely nasty and took three weeks to tell me to contact Itunes AFTER I contacted them a final time and wouldn't take no for an answer. The only way I would suggest this app is if you already receive a subscription by snail mail.
