ⓘ Will the diet work for me?
The calculations used by this app work for the vast majority of people. If you are an extreme athlete, or have a very high body mass index ('morbidly obese, category III') the app can still track your diet however it will be unable to suggest a daily calorific allowance. If you fall into either group you should consult your doctor to discuss a suitable calorific allowance and nutritional profile and enter these manually.
ⓘ Product Support
We believe the Perfect Diet Tracker is quite simply the best app of its kind available and want to keep it that way!

Decent Software for Tracking what you eat
There’s not a lot out there (for Mac) for tracking what you need, calories and monitor nutrition. This seems to be the overall best of the offerings. The information provided does help guide you in making better choices in what you eat. The food data base is robust and there was nothing, so far, I wasn’t able to find and log. It kind of reminds me of a banking account. You get so many calories to consume each day. When you run out (no more calories available) you run out; sort of like running out of money in you banking account. Perfect Diet Tracker is as accurate as you are putting in all of the foods you eat, in the correct amounts. I also like how you can log your exercise as well. If you are physically active this effects the number of calories and adjustments are made after you’ve recorded your activities I was looking forward to the . I’m a bit disappointed that I am not able to find the accompanying app for your mobile device so I wasn’t able to synch, via dropbox, as well. This is one of the reasons I bought this. I contacted the developer (submitted a service ticket) but got no response. Support seems to be sorely lacking. So if you can “wing it” yourself Perfect Diet Tracker may be for you. It’s not perfect though.
Comprehensive and intuitive
I have used a number of simlar applications over many years including back in my dark Windows days and I have found Perfect Diet Tracker to be very intuitive to use and very comprehensive for individual use. I think that it strikes a very good balance between ease of use and a rich set of features. I’ve been using it for over a year now and I’m completely satisfied with it.
Could be so much better!
I've used computer diet programs in the past on a PC, in particular DietPower 4.0. While Diet Tracker doesn't hold a candle to DietPower (which currently has no Apple compatibility), Perfect Diet Tracker is about the best program I've found for a Mac. What it won't do surprises me though. The serving sizes can be difficult to navigate. It's tough to add recipes and there is no progress tracking graph for nutrients. It would provide great positive reinforcement if I could simply click on the pie chart to find out how well I've eaten over the past week or month. A calorie bank would be nice, to help spot trends toward overeating over time instead of just day to day. It would be great to see the big overall progress picture instead of just the daily entries. And as big as the food dictionary is, it isn't big enough and seems to be regional, as my area of the country doesn't carry most of the brands listed. I enter a lot of food items by hand. Sometimes my Notes disappear for no earthly reason, and when the cursor or mouse pointer is in the Notes window, you get an unhelpful help bar across the box that blocks the note. But if you have a Mac and you're looking for a good basic program to track your calories, this one isn't bad. After all, the real work isn't in the data entry, it's in the effort of actual weigh loss, but any reinforcement I can get from the computer aids my goals. I wish this program had just a little more oomph.
