What's New in Version 3.7
- Permission to use Location Services is only requested when taking photos with camera (for geotagging)
- Various UI improvements
Fast Consistent Photo Cleanup
Been using Perfectly Clear for well over a year. It quickly and consistently fixes JPG photos. It has an intuitive user interface that allows you to compare the original picture to its suggested edits.
I probably accept the suggested edits 95% or more of the time. Improvements to photo are obvious, turning mediocre pictures into photos you can be proud of.
This app fixes in seconds problems that could take a quarter an hour or more in Aperture or CS6 to produce an equivalent result. For JPG photo cleanup, I haven't found anything that works as fast or as consistent as does Perfectly Clear.
The only time I have problems with the app are under high contrast or unusual lighting, where the app's suggestion to fix the picture doesn't always work -- and these are usually photos that go into the trash anyway.
Probably the best $3 I've spent on anything related to photography. In fact, let me rephrase that: I've spent hundreds on photo editing software that doesn't work as easily, quickly, and as intuitively as does Perfectly Clear.
I’ve used Perfectly Clear back when it was bundled with the Bibble Raw Converter. It did well with low contrast, dull images, but often I found I could do a better job manually. The same is true of this version as well.
The version for iOS has some significant shortcomings. You can’t zoom (as far as I can tell) to see what it’s doing to your picture in detail. It isn’t always obvious what the controls do. The end result is sometimes better and sometimes not. Many times I can’t see a clear difference between before and after.
Better off using Camera+ or Snapseed as either of them give more control. Heck, buy both, and you’ll end up saving a buck over Perfectly Clear.
CURRENTLY: total garbage. BEFORE: quite good.
I've made two reviews, one last year and then another one recently. =(
CURRENTLY: Actually doesn't work at all! 'before' and 'after' are identical. And won't save like 20% of the time. Has had saving problems intermittently since day one, now has dropped from mildly unreliable to completely worthless. Very sad, because the algorithm is great. Good algorithm, criminally poor iPhone implementation.
BEFORE: If you're looking for one-click photo optimization this is definitely the best app (I'm pretty sure I have them all). You will still want Photogene or something for cropping and more customization, but for one-click automated processing I have to admit that I'm generally very happy with what this app comes up with. I use it ALL THE TIME.
