Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
Permute is the easiest to use media converter with it's easy to use, no configuration, drag and drop interface, it will meet the needs to convert all your media.
Easy to Use
Built from the ground up, Permute is a perfect example of what a Mac app should be. With a gorgeous interface and drag & drop simplicity no need for complicated options.
Permute was engineered to be incredibly fast. Let us take care of the hard stuff. Just select the video format you want and it’ll be done faster than you can say “Antidisestablishmentarianism”.
It doesn’t matter if you’re converting home movies or processing images. Permute can do it all. We support nearly every format and have plenty of device presets to choose from.
What's New in Version 2.0.6
- bug fixes and minor improvements
This the best, forget the rest
I’ve tried various conversion apps over the years. Handbreak. Even Quicktime Player will save a conversion now. And I recently got Toast Titanium in a bundle. All of them are junk compared to Permute (which I’ve been using even before version 2). Well, at least for video, which is what I needed. The others are MUCH slower, and Toast, for example, ballooned my files upon converion (to Apple TV format). Permute keeps them to a nice size, basically the same as their orginal AVIs or MKVs.
It’s not just fast, but super simple. Drag, drop, start. That’s it. Got some more? Drag in some more — they’re added to the bottom and it will continue to process the queue.
I’ve never found a file that it converted “badly” (i.e. no sound, parts missing, blank video, etc.), but I’ve had that happen in other apps.
In short, worth every penny of $10 if you convert video files for playing on Apple TV, mobile devices, or even just for importing them into one library, like iTunes, so that your videos aren’t scattered about your computer, or if you don’t want to run this app for this format or this other app for this other format.
Did I mention just go get it already? :-)
Very responsive development team
They get high marks for fixing two issues I had in version 2.0.4 and they are both quickly fixed in 2.0.6 build. I am pleased to support this team, and the converter has worked great for me, especially the ability to stitch together separate video or audio files into a continuous whole. I saw the two low ratings that looked like the reviewer did not make an attempt to contact the team with a bug report; maybe the problems have already been fixed?
Powerful, Comprehensive, and Easy
I’ve been using Permute since 1.something and I’ve always appreciated the easy “drag & drop” interface that makes converting just about any media I throw at it a simple one- or two-step process. The ability to tweak settings is there, of course, in the preferences menu, but I really appreciate that unless I’m doing something that has really specific needs, I don’t need to use it.
The conversion is a lot faster for many formats now as well.
