Almost Perfect...Except

I've been using personal capital for quite some time now and it has definitely evolved into one of the most essential financial apps in my opinion. The addition of custom categories as well as being able to see the value of my net worth at any point along the graph is helpful. The only feature I wish for now is the ability to change transaction dates. It's not a flaw per se, but sometimes I get paid earlier than the first of the month and without being able to change to date, it can make the monthly cash flow chart pretty inaccurate. Other than that, keep up the great work on this incredibly useful app!

A few tweaks from perfect

Love the app, a few bugs away from being perfect. Need a way to fully manually build an investment. I have real estate holdings I can’t properly classify as investments and manually enter returns so they have to be shown as assets. Need a way to be able to manually build your alternative investment. I have an issue I’ve been working on with them for a few months regarding an investment account randomly showing a contribution as a loss in the amount of the contribution for some reason on their performance graph calculator only. Still unresolved. Other than these few minor tweaks, love the app. Have used it to help my financially disorganized family get on track. That was super helpful.

Good. Could Be Better

Personal Capital is exceptional about showing and aggregating my financial life and providing guidance about how I’m doing.

But I have not yet figured out how to download transactions and portfolio data from prior to the date I joined. That would allow me to get a truer picture of my spending habits and investment returns. Right now, I have about 130 days of bank and credit card records and about 40 days of portfolio data. That’s not enough. Waiting a year to accumulate more data seems like too long.

The calls from advisors were a bit annoying too. I’m a 65-year-old financial professional and a CFA, so I don’t feel like I need advice from a 27-year-old salesman.
