Well promoted, terribly implemented
Nearly every time I ride on Peter Pan I'm (inaccurately) reminded by their promotional videos of the benefits of using their app. Unfortunately, the app is awful.
The UX is incredibly unintuitive to me (for instance why do I keep seeing "PERKS LOGIN" in multiple places after I've already logged in?). It's also terribly slow, to the point of seeming continually unresponsive. The app just seems like a poorly-constructed wrapper around their website (which is already not great), so what's the point? You can't even use it to board your bus, despite them moving to paperless ticketing.
Save some money on promotional videos that nag your customers "Did you download the app yet?", and spend it instead on making an app that is actually useful and usable. Surely you could hire some good mobile developers among the hundreds, if not thousands, in the Boston area.
Even though the app tells you you can print a boarding pass my recent experience proved otherwise. I received boarding passes by email but was unable to print them — there was no possible way.
What if my cell phone runs out of power or I lose it? (I like to have a back up and and this system absolutely doesn’t allow it) And what if I don’t have a cell phone then what do I do to buy a ticket? The app is also extremely uncommunicative and doesn’t give instructions and is just plain terrible.
This is literally a web browser pointing to the company’s mobile site. It has no functions that you can’t access just as quickly by opening their website in Safari. I downloaded it hoping to use the bus tracker, since I couldn’t get that to load properly in Safari, but it didn’t load in this “app” either.
Save your time/bandwidth and just bookmark their website in your browser; it’s exactly the same thing you’ll see in the app.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
