Hi there Emerald-
You had a valid idea. However, the microchip isn't a tracker, unfortunately. I'm sure some day they'll be equipped with gps. For now, the way a chip works is the pet owner registers the chip with the chip company and if someone finds a lost pet, they can take the critter to a vet and ask them to scan the pet and if I number indeed pops up, assuming the owner does register with their contact info, the chip company can be contacted and then the pet's owner. I think if a gps type microchip comes along, human children will be first to get a tracking device inserted, which wouldn't that be wonderful if a kidnapper was caught almost immediately ? 😊
No GPS ??
For the price you pay for a year of service you should be able to track your own chipped animals !! You would think that you could prevent loosing an animal if you could , in real time, track the where a bouts of your own animal if a situation arises that there's a possibility that your pet was taken or got loose !! Very disappointed!! My 2 fur babies are both chipped and I thought that the app support included this service!!
Not what I thought it was
I downloaded the app thinking it was set up to record keep all my pets microchip information and allow updates etc but it didn’t have anything useful like that. It would be great if they had their tag etc online store as well as chip management either in place of the existing app or incorporated in it or as a secondary app for those like me who just want a way to keep up with this info easily. Currently I’m very disappointed in the app.
